For the day, the Shockers are:
17 and 13
Regular Season (Games of Interest):
2018 – (#17) WSU beat Tulsa in Wichita 90-71. After making his seventh 3-pointer of the first half in as many attempts, Wichita State reserve Austin Reaves heard the whistle signaling a Tulsa timeout and tried to make his way to the bench. His teammates wouldn't let him. Each one shoved or hugged him to celebrate a rare shooting display that sent the 17th-ranked Shockers to a 90-71 victory Sunday. Henderson's 3-pointer pulled Tulsa to 56-50 with 13:56 remaining. Tulsa got within four twice after that, but an 11-0 Wichita State run -- including five points from Zach Brown, who finished with 10 -- opened up a 77-62 lead with 5:09 remaining to put the game away. "I thought we showed great resolve then, a real will to win," Shockers coach Gregg Marshall said. "They got it down to four, and we did everything we needed to after that."
2015 – (#12) WSU beat Loyola (Chicago) in Wichita 58-47. Wichita State coach Gregg Marshall wasn't going to say his players were looking past this game to a Top 25 showdown at Northern Iowa on Saturday. But even Marshall wondered if that was the case after his 12th-ranked Shockers needed Fred VanVleet's career-high 27 points to hold off short-handed Loyola 58-47 Wednesday night. "Their guards, they just clamp on you," Moser said. "Fred, Ron and Tekele's defense is just phenomenal, and they defend harder as the game goes on. It wears you out." Wichita State methodically took advantage. Baker had a dunk to wake up the crowd, VanVleet converted a layup and Baker sank a 3 with 6:50 remaining to make it 44-30 Wichita State. The Ramblers did not get closer than nine again. The Shockers have won 27 straight Missouri Valley games, the longest streak in the conference since 1924
2014 – (#4) WSU beat Loyola (Chicago) Wichita 57-45. Cleanthony Early scored 12 of his 23 points in the second half to lead Wichita State (22-0, 9-0 Missouri Valley Conference). No other Shocker scored more than seven points, and the rest of the team was a combined 3 of 19 (15.7 percent) from the field in the second half. The crowd was nervous and then restless after Doyle's three-point play with 2:27 left shaved the lead to single digits, 52-43. But four free throws by Anthony and a dunk by Darius Carter sealed the victory for the Shockers, who outrebounded Loyola 44-28. The Shockers tied the 1985-86 Bradley team for the third-longest winning streak by a Missouri Valley team. The top two MVC winning streaks are Cincinnati, 37 from 1961 to 1963, and Indiana State, 33 in 1978-79. VanVleet said going undefeated has entered the Shockers' minds. "Now it does, because you want to win the Valley," he said. "So you want to win every Valley game.
