For the day, the Shockers are:
15 and 8
Regular Season (Games of Interest):
2020 – (#RV) WSU beat UCF in Wichita 87-79. Dexter Dennis scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead five Wichita State players in double figures and the Shockers defeated Central Florida 87-79 on Saturday night. Grant Sherfield and Jaime Echenique added 14 points apiece for the Shockers (17-3, 5-2 American Athletic Conference), Erik Stevenson chipped in 11 and Trey Wade 10. Sherfield also had six assists. Dennis had a dunk with 1 1/2 minutes to play to put the Shockers up 10 but the Panthers scored four quick points from the foul line. However, in the last 47 seconds Wichita State was 10 of 12 from the foul line to wrap it up.
2018 – (#17) WSU beat UCF in Wichita 81-62. Darral Willis had 12 points and nine rebounds for the Shockers, many of whom noted tough practices since losing at Houston on Saturday. "We were kind of intimated at Houston," Shockers coach Gregg Marshall said. "The guys did not respond after being punched in the mouth. "It's about time to figure that out." After getting outrebounded 22-19 in the first half, Wichita State outrebounded Central Florida 29-16 in the second half. Each team's leading scorer, and preseason all-conference selection, had a difficult night. Taylor was 4 of 15 from the floor, while Wichita State guard Landry Shamet had just 4 points on 2-of-9 shooting. Shamet did have a game-high six assists. But Marshall liked how his team played overall, scoring 81 points against a tough defensive opponent -- the Knights entered fifth nationally in defensive field goal percentage -- while compiling 16 assists and six turnovers.
2015 – (#14) WSU beat Drake in Wichita 74-40. After losing to Illinois State earlier this month, Drake coach Ray Giacoletti said those Redbirds were "as athletic as any team in our league." He didn't think much of it. His opponent Sunday, No. 14 Wichita State, certainly did. The Shockers took it out on Drake with a 74-40 romp, their 26th straight win against Missouri Valley Conference opponents. "Clearly, we were trying to make point," said Wichita State guard Ron Baker, who had a game-high 15 points. "To say another team in the Valley is more athletic than we are gets our attention. And it wasn't one of coach (Gregg) Marshall's favorite teams in the Valley, either," he said. ""So (he) kept bringing it up." Tekele Cotton had 10 points for Wichita State (18-2, 8-0), which shot 51.9 percent (28 of 54). All 15 available Shockers played, none more than 28 minutes.
2014 – (#5) WSU won at Drake in Des Moines, Iowa 78-61. Wichita State soared past yet another overwhelmed Missouri Valley Conference opponent on Saturday night. Now the Shockers could be in line for another leap in the national polls. Cleanthony Early scored 19 points, Ron Baker added 14 and fifth-ranked Wichita State stayed perfect with a 78-61 win over Drake. Wichita State's latest win -- combined with an ugly home loss by No. 4 Villanova to Creighton during the week and No. 3 Michigan State's home defeat against No. 21 Michigan on Saturday -- could put the Shockers (21-0, 8-0 MVC) in position to leapfrog both teams on Monday. Coach Gregg Marshall appeared to be stumping for his team with what seemed to be a bit of a jab at Michigan State (18-2) after the game. "Did the mighty Spartans lose again?" Marshall said as he left the podium following his postgame news conference.
2012 – Beat Evansville in Wichita 86-74. Garrett Stutz made 9 of 11 shots and scored 23 points as Wichita State ran its winning streak to eight with an 86-74 victory over Evansville on Wednesday night. Toure Murry added 14 points for the Shockers (18-3, 9-1), who remained tied with Creighton for the Missouri Valley lead. Carl Hall and David Kyles scored 12 points each. Demetric Williams had 10 assists, and Stutz grabbed eight rebounds. Coach Gregg Marshall won his 100th game at Wichita State.
2009 – Beat Evansville in Wichita 51-50. Toure Murry swished a contested 3-pointer with 8.3 seconds left to give Wichita State a 51-50 victory over Evansville Sunday at Koch Arena. Wichita State (9-11, 3-6 Missouri Valley) never led before Murry's shot, released just inches in front of his own bench and giving him a team-high 15 points. Evansville (12-7, 4-5) did not call a time-out and Kavon Lacey's baseline 3-pointer bounced out just prior to the buzzer. Shy Ely led the Purple Aces with 17 points. Wichita State did not get closer than four in the second half until consecutive baskets from J.T. Durley and A.J. Hawkins made it 45-42 Evansville with 5:01 remaining. The Shockers used a 6-0 run capped by a David Kyles slam to pull within 49-48 with 35.3 seconds to play.
2003 – Won at Bradley in Peoria, Ill. 64-60. The Shockers were down by 12-points at the half 28 to 40.
1975 – Beat New Mexico State in Wichita 64-63
1969 – Beat North Texas in Wichita 97-89
1926 – Beat McPherson in Wichita 47-23
