Markis McDuffie scored 14 of his 20 points in the first half and grabbed nine rebounds as Wichita State routed Southern Illinois 87-45 on Tuesday night to win their third straight. Darral Willis Jr. had 15 points and Shaquille Morris 10 for the Shockers (18-4, 8-1 Missouri Valley), who haven't lost at home to the Salukis since Feb. 8, 2011. Willis' layup put the Shockers up for good, 10-8, and sparked a 13-2 run capped by Rauno Nurger's 3-pointer. Zach Brown's free throw capped a 17-4 run and Wichita State led 39-22 at halftime after shooting 53.8 percent from the floor. Wichita State opened the second half with an 11-2 run for a 24-point lead and led by 42 with 2:49 left.
2007 – Beat Drake in Wichita 82-77. Sean Ogirri scored a career-high 29 points Wednesday night to lead Wichita State past Drake 82-77. Ogirri hit five 3-pointers and had two three-point plays as the Shockers built an 18-point lead in the second half. Kyle Wilson added 14 for Wichita State (13-8, 4-6 Missouri Valley Conference) and Ryan Martin added 11. The Shockers were up by 15 with 5 minutes to go when Drake (11-10, 2-8) rallied to cut the lead to two with only a minute to go. The Shockers led 69-51 with 7:45 to go in the second half before Drake began chipping away. Still trailing by 15 with 5:03 to go, Drake rallied to cut the deficit to two at 77-75 with just over a minute left. Wichita State pulled away at the free throw line for the final margin.
