BTW I don't at all mean I want cotton getting beat out. I re read all that and it seemed unclear in that first line. I mean I expect him to be awesome and if someone is good enough to bump him, the bar for our team just got raised a ton.

The most anyone played last year was Toure at 29.3 MPG. I think we have more pieces at Toure's position this year so I don't really see that being repeated.
Joe played 27.4 MPG at the point and we relied on Joe a lot. Malcolm might approach 25 MPG but I am hoping FVV will get a decent amount of PT and D-Will needs enough minutes at the point to stay sharp if he is needed due to foul trouble or injury.
Garret, D-Will and Ben all played about 24-25 MPG and David and Carl played 22-23 MPG.
Tekele followed with 10 MPG and Jake payed 7 MPG. Both of those numbers will go up.
I actually foresee a longer bench in the pre-conference schedule as 3G works in different combinations to see what and who works the best. The non-con schedule is not so tough that 3G can't take advantage of that and spread the minutes around. Once MVC play starts I could see him shortening the bench some. We will have to see how this works out, but I do like our depth.

I would love to see a faster paced game than last year with the team really pushing fast breaks and some solid press and man defense. I see no reason why we can't easily outpace and team in the MVC simply by putting fresh bodies on the floor every 6-10 minutes. I think if we can run the floor and really take advantage of the speed and fresh legs (on fast breaks) no reason we don't average 6-10 points a game more than last year with a really upbeat offense while maintaining roughly the same defensive pressure (in ppg) as last year.
That is the biggest change I would really love to see, Quite frankly if we have 6-7 fresh bodies on the bench, they don't have to be stellar players, if they come into the game, play 8 minutes, and score 6-8 points on uncontested fast breaks, who needs to be able to shoot a high % of contested shots....I think if we take advantage of the fast break really hard, we really blow some teams out this year and win by a very large amount in a lot of games...

If it goes towards 30, than we're looking at only having an 8 or maybe 9 man rotation. Not the 11 shown above.
I also made this qualifier in my post: "If it wasn't for the inexperienced playing less early in the season, this team could have no one playing more than 26 minutes per game for the season." So I'm not disagreeing with either of you, except, it may take part of the season getting there. This season, the Shocks will need every last win they can get if they have any hope to Dance. Early on, Marshall will not trade any of those possible wins for floor experience. Unlike last year, this team will get deeper as the season goes on.
Look at our 2010-11 team. 5 seniors, 4 juniors filling the top 9 minute getters. 7 of these players having at least one year experience playing under Marshall. All of these players getting between 18 and 26 minutes. DWill was next at 13 (1 year under Marshall), then EO with 5 mpg.
Now the 2012-13 team. 4 seniors, 3 juniors and only the 4 seniors having already played under Marshall. I'm just not sure that some of those who have not played for Marshall in the past or the underclassmen will see the kind of minutes early in the season that they will later on. By later in the season, I have Early at 27, Hall 26, DWill 25, Wiggins 25, and Armstead at 22. Less than 20 minutes, EO 17, Lufile 15, White 14, Cotton 12, FVV 11, and Baker 8.

It's easy to say the inexperienced guys won't get mny minutes, but here are the "inexperienced" guys
Early - Gonna have to get minutes
Wiggins - Gonna get minutes
Armstead - Expected to be a starter
Lufile - Possible first option backing up the post
Baker
VanVleet
Mitchell
Green - Red Shirt
4 of 7 of the new guys get minutes. 2 of 3 of the rest are expected to get role player minutes. Those minutes have to cut into the minutes the experienced players get. I certainly expect Marshall to rely on the more experienced guys, but I'll be surprised if any player averages 25 minutes. Hall and Williams might be around tht number, but certanly no returners other than those 2. If any returner other than Hall or Williams is around 25 minutes, we're dancing, because it would probably be Orukpe - and if he has that kind of season - the Shox are an NCAA team. The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

I foresee a 5X5X5 substitution pattern this year. Starters in and beat on the other team for 5 to 6 minutes, the next five comes in for 4 to 5 minutes and the next five in for 2 to 3 minutes and then it starts all over again. Second half same scenario. We could be like hockey and refer to them as the first line, second line and third line.
