Go Shockers - WSU Athletics Partners with DARI Motion

WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State Athletics has partnered with DARI Motion to provide musculoskeletal health and human motion assessments for Shocker student-athletes. The baseball and softball teams both had scans completed on each student-athlete this fall, while the other sports will take place in the spring and summer.

"We are thankful to be able to partner with DARI Motion to assist our student-athletes and our athletic trainers," said Kevin Saal, Wichita State Director of Athletics. "This tool will help improve our student-athlete experience and increase their performance on the court and field."

DARI Motion provides a fast, automated platform that will analyze a patient's motion-health data and provides accurate insights to physical therapists, physicians, and athletic trainers in hospitals, clinics, training facilities, and wellness centers. The only FDA-cleared and patented system for analyzing motion health, DARI Motion uses multiple cameras to capture thousands of data points to build out a full biomechanical profile of human movement. It gives providers the tools they need to create an action plan that will improve an athlete's performance, aid in patient's recovery progress, and protect against injuries.

DARI Motion can be found in numerous organizations across the country, including eight locations within the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS), the #1 ranked hospital in the US for orthopedics. Professional sports teams, athletes, and athletic trainers are using the system to increase performance and reduce injury. The NFL recently implemented a program that is leveraging DARI to minimize soft tissue injuries along with keeping their players healthy and on the field.
I have zero idea how beneficial this really is, but I'm guessing there's something to it.

It, or systems like it are pretty standard across high level athletics at this point.

It basically analyzes a number of different movements and compares these to norms in a huge bank of previously scanned people. It will help correct deficiencies that need to be corrected for injury prevention and give more objective data with respect to where athletes are in the course of their recovery following injury/surgery.

Not sure what was done previously, but more than likely a step in the right direction.

Would have been nice to have this a few years back with Landry.
