Saw it on twitter from a So. Miss account. Interesting that his name would come up so early in his coaching career. Figured he might have to put in work as a HC somewhere much lower than So.Miss before he got his shot. I'd love to keep Greg as an assistant, I think he does a great job, but I'd be happy for him if he got the nod for a HC position.

From the EaglePost, a Southern Mississippi message board:
"Who do you want as the next USM basketball HC?
Sean Woods 9 votes 20%
Kenny Payne 4 votes 8%
Steve Barnes 4 votes 8%
Jay Ladner 6 votes 13%
Ross Hodge 2 votes 4%
Greg Heiar 9 votes 20%
Leonard Perry No votes
Rick Stansbury 5 votes 11%
Other 6 votes 13%
Total votes : 45"
Besides these names, UTEP's Tim Floyd has been discussed on their board. This job will probably be in the $250,000 to $350,000 a year range. In the fast lane

What's Floyd making at UTEP?
I'm also surprised that the pay is that low. I would have expected at least $500kInfinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan

Pay wise, I'm sure Floyd is unrealistic but he has ties to either Southern Mississippi or the area. Somebody on the board threw his name in as a great hire. I think Larry E. was making something like $350,000 after around 9 years there. I don't believe they have good facilities, fan base, or practically anything else going for their basketball program except they had Greg Heiar and Hodges as very good juco recruiters. In the fast lane

A Scout article speculating what names will come up and a ranking by the writer on who he would want:
1. Kenny Payne
2. Greg Heiar
3. Tim Floyd
4. Steve Barnes
5. Leonard Perry
6. Sean Woods
Payne is an AC at Kentucky and played high school ball in the area. Floyd is from Hattiesburg and walked on at Southern Mississippi. Barnes has been with Eustachy many years and wants the job. Perry was an AC at Southern Mississippi this year. Woods is the HC at Mississippi Valley State.
