  • Nominations Open for 2023 Shocker Hall of Fame Class

Wichita State Athletics is accepting public nominations for the 2023 Pizza Hut Shocker Sports Hall of Fame induction, Associate AD for Strategic Communications Tami Cutler announced today.

Former student-athletes are not eligible for induction until nine years after their initial enrollment at Wichita State University. This year's class must have an initial enrollment of Fall, 2014, or before.

Submit nominations, along with support materials to Tami Cutler, Associate AD/Strategic Communications, Charles Koch Arena, 1845 Fairmount, Wichita, Kansas, 67260-0018 or email at tcutler@goshockers.com.

Alex Harden, the best player WBB player in school history IMO, apparently has been eligible for the previous 3 years. She enrolled in the Fall of 2011. I am actually somewhat surprised that she is yet to be inducted. I think I am going to have to submit a nomination for Alex.

Fred and Ron for sure and don't they need to go in together. Actually, I think they both have been eligible for a couple of years as well. Are they working with some kind of waiting list or something?

Nikki Larch-Miller is eligible. She has a Hall of Fame worthy resume I think.

Aaron True probably deserves some consideration:

Aaron TrueJavelin Throw - Season and Career Results WSU All-Time Top-10 Lists #2 Javelin - 77.49m/254-3 (2018) - held the school record from 2018-22. 4x NCAA

I wonder how Doc would feel about this one.

I think Emily Hiebert and Abby Lehman are eligible. They both enrolled in the fall of 2014 and redshirted that 1st year. I would like to see them go in together as well as Fred and Ron.

Not sure how one "ignores" someone that was a Consensus All-American in the most important sport for that school and was the team's leading scorer both years here, a F4 year and an undefeated regular season year (also leading rebounder that year).

But, yes, Cle, Fred, and Ron (I'd include Tekele also) should go in together now.

This would be the perfect year to have a solely men’s basketball induction, especially if you wanted to induct all 4 of those guys.

This school year is the tenth anniversary of the Final 4 season. If there isn’t some sort of reunion event set up for this, we have major problems.

Especially, at a time you are trying to reinvigorate the program and the fan base.

How is Alex Harden not in yet?

                        Nikki absolutely deserves it.

I'm all on board for Ron, Fred, Tekele and Cle.

I'd support Emily and Abby as well.

I also still want to see McBurney in the rafters

I know it sounds like a senior citizen comment, but how is it possible that it has been 10 years since the Final 4???? Seems like 4 or 5 years ago.

And yet with the current state of the program, sometimes it feels like 20 years ago.

It might be difficult to get Fred here for a HOF induction ceremony; I'm sure his schedule is brutal during the NBA season. I believe the NBA season begins in late October and runs through June.

... and yes, hope the new administration does what is right and hangs Ross McBurney's jersey in the rafters. Ole Ross and his family deserve it as much as anyone.
