"The criminal investigation started in November and involved interviews with more than 30 former students, as well as teachers, coaches, administrators and medical professionals. A successful Rhode Island high school basketball coach was criminally charged Thursday by authorities who say that for years he asked male student-athletes to remove their clothes while alone with him so he could check their body fat...."

Call me crazy but I think the proper way to check BMI is to pinch the ever-loving crap out of the skin on the tricep.

"Ameer Sutton-Best, 31, tried to have a friend pay off the victim's family, according to prosecutors.
A basketball coach at a Chester County youth center raped a 13-year-old girl, prosecutors said Friday. Ameer Sutton-Best, 31, also solicited sex acts from two other underage girls, sending them explicit text messages and pornography, according to the affidavit of probable cause for his arrest. After raping the girl in July, Sutton-Best had a friend contact the victim’s mother, asking what he needed to do to “make this go away,” the affidavit said. The friend offered to pay the victim’s family in exchange for not reporting the rape to law enforcement, according to prosecutors...."
"Emoni Bates, a former high school star who transferred from Memphis to Eastern Michigan this summer, was arrested Sunday night about two miles from campus in Superior Township, Michigan, after sheriff's deputies discovered a firearm in a vehicle, he was driving...."
Emoni appears innocent here. He was driving someone else's car, and the gun was hidden.
It all depends on Michigan law I would suspect. I honestly don't know the laws in other states. That's why I don't take a gun with me. It wouldn't matter in Kansas, unless you are a felon.
"LIMA (OHIO) — Quintez Burns, charged with felonious assault for an altercation that took place during a basketball game at the Lima YMCA earlier this year that left one man seriously injured, failed to appear at his jury trial Monday morning. According to court documents, Allen County Common Pleas Court Judge Terri Kohlrieser put out a bench warrant for Burns’ arrest. Burns, 28, was indicted in connection with a fight at the YMCA that resulted in “serious physical harm to Preston Patrick,” according to the indictment. Burns previously failed to show up for a court appearance on May 5, for which a bench warrant was issued. He was later allowed out on bond."
Why wouldn't he? He was borrowing the car and had no reason to believe the owner had a hidden gun.
Because he has rights and doesn't have to. I have nothing to hide in my vehicle but I'm never giving permission to police to search it. Borrowing a vehicle? Even more reason to not let them search it.
I know, most go through life with the thought process if you have nothing to hide, let the cops do whatever they want. I go through life knowing that we all have rights and the cops aren't entitled to search anything without probable cause or a warrant. And the odds may be slim, but we've seen cops plant drugs and such just in order to make an arrest. So I'm not going to take the chance that one of those types are involved.
Cops can ask. We don't have to say yes, and really shouldn't. More often than not it's a waste of everyone's time and nothing more than a power trip to show who's boss.

You are probably right, we probably shouldn't, but it's unfortunately a MUCH larger waste of time if you say no. They'll just make you sit there while they intimidate you and try to figure out what they want to do about it.
