07/01/21 - marks the anniversary of college athletes being allowed to monetize their name, image and likeness (NIL). One of the most significant consequences of the NCAA’s new hands-off approach to name, image, and likeness agreements for college athletes has been the sudden emergence of powerful booster- or donor-collectives — organizations created by financial supporters of a college, meant to facilitate NIL opportunities for the college athletes they support. Collectives are changing the game, literally and figuratively, and in ways that are difficult to understate.
07/01/17 - Wichita State University begins its membership in the American Athletic Conference, having joined the league on AAC on July 1, 2017. WSU officially joined the AAC, ending a 72-year affiliation with the Missouri Valley Conference that had begun back in 1945.
