I am emotionally disturbed right now. Can't imagine how the guys feel.

Me too. This loss really hurts. We don't get a team this talented very often. This was the best team we have had since we had the bookends in 1981. I don't think I will live another 30 years, so I hope it doesn't take that long to get another team this good.

In a tournament made exciting by upsets, it just sucks that we are now notorious as one of only two teams to be upset one Day One. UNLV was the other.

            From ESPN:
Even the most notable upset of the day -- No. 12-seed VCU's win over No. 5-seed Wichita State -- had a decidedly un-upset feel. Make no mistake: It was an upset. Wichita State was a very good team throughout the season, one that caught a brutal matchup against the scrappy, steal-happy, Shaka Smart-led Rams. But VCU's 2011 run made the Rams a popular "upset" pick in the first place. Point guard Darius Theus' savvy play (he made the game-sealing bucket over 7-footer Garrett Stutz on the penultimate possession) and Smart's "HAVOC" defense (which pestered the typically efficient Shockers into wasteful offensive possessions) hardly came out of left field.

In any case, this was one mid-major upsetting another mid-major, the kind of result that hardly gets the nation's hoops blood boiling. Again: Princeton-UCLA this was not.

I actually slept better last night than I had in days. All that anticipation and nervousness was just eating me up! As bitter a pill as this end was, at least I can let all of that go.

I've always been a glass is half full guy, and I still am, but man this one is tough.

Ok, my optimistic spin at this point is I doubt HCGM is going anywhere, and with that, I doubt seriously it will be another 6 years before we are back in the big dance. He's instilled a culture of winning now, and his system is rooted. When the new recruits get here, that culture will be inherited, and the high level will continue, even if it takes a year or so for experience to catch up.

We need to keep our heads up, our guys gave it their all, and it was a great season. Ill miss the seniors, it will be fun tho watching the new crop of players come in grow not only as players, but young men that represent Wichita State with the highest class.

This group of seniors will go down in my book as one of the best WSU TEAM that has ever played at Wichita State. We have had good teams in the past, but this group of guys bought in on how to play together as one. I'm so proud of them. I agree though, it will be fun to see the next group of young men that come through the doors and we have 5 seniors again next year.

I slept fine...but woke up sad. I was hoping it was just a bad dream. But it wasnt. The guys gave us a great season. I have never been more proud of being a Shocker than I have during this season. In the middle of KU, K-State and Mizzou country it's hard for a Shocker fan to stand out. This season I have been hearing from friends and strangers who see me in my Black and Yellow giving us props for a our great season. We have a deep bench and HCGM has set a foundation within the team and next years recruits have a lot of people excited. I think this is just the beginning - not the end. Thanks Seniors!

I highly doubt you'll have to wait another 30 years. I'm not trying to take anything away from this year's squad, but we have some serious talent coming in next year. That group of guys is going to be off the charts. Someone else hit the nail on the head when they said this is just the beginning. This team laid the groundwork for what's going to happen in the next several seasons. Enjoy the ride and hang on.
