  • Thoughts on the game and the season from the heart

Tonight was an off night for the team. They didn't play like they normally do, but that is basketball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, but the guys played hard, and never gave up. 110% hustle from every player on the court. We had a poor shooting night. It happens. We should have ran more zone in the first half, that's just part of basketball. Sometimes you game plan correctly, sometimes you don't. This coaching staff game plans correctly drastically more than it doesn't, and Coach and the staff made great halftime adjustments. I commend them on that. And there is the luck factor. Sometimes the ball just doesn't fall the way you want it to. VCU played a hell of a game, had some clutch shots fall for them, and their defense is as good as everyone says it is. VCU, in my opinion, is the best team we've played all year, and could and should beat any team we've faced. We did not lose to a bad team tonight, VCU is a great team, and will continue to be great as long as Shaka Smart is their coach.

The 2011-12 Shocker team will go down as one of the best teams to grace the WSU uniform, and this Senior class is one of the best to ever graduate. I'm thankful for every senior on this team, Joe, Toure, Ben, Garrett and David. Those guys are class acts, and represent our alma mater as best as any student-athlete can. I wish them nothing but success in life, be it basketball, or doing what ever passion they have in life. To Coach Marshall, thank you for all that you've done for our university, I couldn't ask for a better coach. I hope that there are many more seasons in Wichita.

I will always remember this season, and the wins and losses it took to get a 5 seed, and end the regular season being ranked in both top 25's.

Thanks to all the members of this site, this has been a great 6 months of being the administrator on here, and I've met some amazing people because of this site. Shocker nation is full of wonderful fans, and just generally great human beings. Keep your heads up, be proud, and look forward to next year.

Hard to believe it's been 5 years since HCGM took the job. Watching TM,DK,GS and all the others rebuild the program from empty cupboards have been a journey. The future is very bright. Can't for next season.
