A group in line with what we're likely to be.

Something along the lines of a couple below the Mendoza line P5 types and an overachieving MM with an annoying fan base seems likely.


Check that, 1 low P5 and 2 annoying MM.

And the slide back to MM level play and season success (or lack thereof) continues. The climb to national respect and the exposure has been nullified and prospects for a quick return are minimal.

After the multiple times WSU was on ESPN/national broadcast this past season, will be greatly reduced next season back to the Valley consistency days.

Being paired with the level of teams in this tournament speaks loudly to the new status and perception. Would not be surprised to see the fourth team from the Summit or Horizon Leagues.

Historically this has been a pretty decent Tournament. That's a rough field so far though. At minimum it's a drivable set of games.

If we had any expectation of being a tournament team, or even good, I'd be upset with the announced competition. As it is, it's hard to complain and we may not even be favored to win it. So what are we bitching about? Rather go somewhere more exotic and finish 8th while getting our asses kicked in a tournament with name opponents? Not sure how that would be any better for the program. At least these will be potentially winnable games.

This year's field featured Illinois, Arkansas, K-State, and Cincinnati. The invited programs for 2022 aren't terrible but this is definitely a step back.

SF was a 10 seed this year but not sure who they have returning and uni actually won the mvc regular season (I know lol)
