Would love to hear from Creighton guard Grant Gibbs whether he intentionally slapped John Henson's injured left wrist. Sure looked like it.
    Quote from Grant Gibbs
"I would have used a sledge hammer to purposely injure Henson's already injured left wrist, but that would have been to obvious. Besides, I wanted to give shocker.net & Seth Davis a reason to disparage the holy reputation of Creighton University."

Sarcasm...just in case it needed an explanation.

    • That FSU/Cinci game reminded me way too much of the WSU/IllState game. Insanely physical game where the refs just wouldn't call a foul no matter what happened.

I don't know how many "steals" Cinci got by karate chopping the arm of an FSU player and knocking the ball out. The refs never called a reach-in or a hack penalty until mid-way through the second half, when guys started getting hurt, and then they were being called every minute. I don't think I've ever seen a guy steal the ball, only for the guy who had it stolen to be able to reach over and "swat" it out to steal it right back and get an easy layup after everyone had started transitioning to the other basket. And it happened three times in that game.

FSU got away with a bunch of fouls as well. It just worked into Cinci's play style better. They got away with fouls and turned them into half of their points ... we got away with fouls and didn't do much with it. And then we stupidly threw the game away at the end on a few awful passes.

I was cheering for Creighton until they showed how dirty they were willing to play that game. I'm glad UNC destroyed them. Great job, McDermott's. You broke a guy's wrist, tried to injure another one, and you still couldn't even lose in single digits.

        • Middle Tennessee State just knocked off one of the NIT #1 seeds Tennessee. I caught the second half of the game on espn. It was a pretty exciting game. The game was at Tennessee of course, it looked like a full house. It was a close game most of the way, MT ended up winning 71-64.

Illinois St. plays at Stanford at 10:30pm tonight on espn2.

          • Minnesota at Miami is on espn right now. They play in a cozy on-campus arena that seats around 7000. The announcers said there are only a few hundred there tonight (and they are suppose to be considered high major and were not?).

If you lived in Miami would you be at an NIT game?

I sure as heck wouldn't be.

It's a Monday Night game. If I were a Miami Basketball fan (apparently they don't have very many) I would certainly be there.

The announcers keep making fun of the very small crowd, Mike Patrick just referred to the crowd as both of them that are left.

Playing a home game in front of a few hundred people in a 7000 seat arena really wreaks of high major. NOT!

Using an NIT game against Minnesota to make a point is pretty short-sighted. BCS schools don't draw for NIT games anyways. Nobody cares. Miami had one goal. To get to the NCAA's. They failed. No one cares. No one was at their NIT games last year either. Hell, hardly anybody goes to their regular season games. Miami is a professional sports town and college football town. Not a college basketball town. Sorry. So once again, analogy FAIL.

I wasn't the one making the point. But if I were a recruit I certainly wouldn't be too excited about going to a so-called high major that plays in a 7000 seat arena in the first place. A so-called high major playing in the NIT wouldn't excite me either and finally playing in front of nobody wouldn't exactly make me think they were a big time program.

                            • Illinois St is leading Stanford 74-68 with less than 7 minutes left in the game. (Game is on espn2).

                              • Carmichael has been called for 3 straight offensive calls in the last minute and a half (taking 3 baskets off the scoreboard). He went from having 1 foul to 4 just like that and the score is now tied at 74 with about 4 minutes left in the game.
