KS already knew the play they were going to run. They practiced it this week. His team was prepared and knew what to do.
If HCIB calls timeout, what would be the point? To set the defense? What would you be setting against? Is there a specific defense you would have liked to see? Calling a timeout just to call a time out would have had zero impact on the outcome.
The boys should have already known what was going to be coming and been prepared for it. Calling timeout to set up a defense you haven’t practiced with a team that has handled what UH had thrown at them all game is a rookie over reaction and proud of HCIB learning that after several fails early in the year.

None of that matters if Ricky doesn’t fall asleep… which a timeout may or may not help with…. WSU had enough time to call and setup the defense Coach IB wanted. One player failed to execute (if you want to know what they were supposed to do watch TE at the bottom of the screen). Had IB called a timeout giving KS time to draw up the perfect play everyone would have second guessed that decision.Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

We had to call timeout. To much time left on the clock and we had been changing our defenses all game. Watching the game in person you could see a couple of players look at the bench expecting a timeout or what defense they were in. You could also see IB looking confused what to do. I agree Ricky kind of froze, but he also was one on two with the fast player on the floor coming at him with a full head of steam. Houston was prepared and IB wasn’t. Shox played a great game. Glad Ricky started, CP played well late in the game. The Shox will have to play as well to have any chance at Memphis.

Hindsight is 20/20, so, looking back, if HCIB would have called a TO, there would have at least been defenders in the lane and not the perimeter, like KP was.
But really Shead drove through the whole damn team (the block was wide open), something he had been doing the whole game, with ease. It's the best I've ever seen him play.

You think the percentages favor calling timeout and letting the offensive team set a play and get organized compared to making them go with 5 seconds left and being completely ragged? The blame goes on the players for completely falling asleep. 99% of the time that sort of shot ends up being a deep 3, not a dunk.
A. Wide. Open. Slam. Dunk. To. Win. The. Game (from 91.86 ft no less). Shead's pretty quick though, to be fair.
