GAME RECAP (kinda):
Just for shits and grins, I decided to recap the WSU vs Tulsa game from January 13, 1983.
WICHITA, Kan. -- Antoine Carr scored 24 points and Xavier McDaniel grabbed 22 rebounds in Wichita State's 92-74 disposal of Tulsa Thursday night in a Missouri Valley Conference game.
Wichita, in winning its 11th game in a row after a season-opening loss, took a 45-33 lead at the half and then watched its lead fluctuate between 12 and 24 points.
The Shockers are 3-0 in the MVC. Tulsa fell to 6-5 and 1-2.
Carr scored 16 points in the first half, hitting 6-of-8 shots and 4-of-4 free throws. He scored 10 points in succession to snap a 7-7 tie and put the Shockers ahead 17-11.
McDaniel, a 6-foot-7 forward, scored 19 points to remain the only Wichita player in double figures in both scoring and rebounding in every game this season. Aubrey Sherrod added 18 points for the Shockers. Tulsa was led by Ricky Ross with 16 points and center Bruce Vanley's 14 points.
