AG was old enough to make his own decisions, but he averaged 8 assists/game against Tulane’s zone defense… That kind of point guard play goes a long way into making everyone else play better.

I really like what CP is doing, but there are some holes in his game. For instance, he rarely passes the ball ahead for easy baskets. We saw three or four easy buckets in the game Tyson was the point guard that we haven’t seen from CP (Armstead was the king of these passes). Furthermore, CP isn’t a willing catch and shoot player. He does excel at driving to score, but is a below average point guard when it comes to penetrating and dishing. His max assists in a game this year is 7 against Norfolk and one game with six against Alcorn. In summary he is a very good guard, he has some key tools on both ends of the court, but he doesn’t necessarily make the game easier for his teammates.
If you think TW and AG are the difference between winning the conference or being in the bottom of the conference I guess I just disagree with you.

We are generally losing games in the last two to three minutes.

Gilbert wasn’t a turnover matching and could get guys layups late in the shot clock or wide open three point shots.

Trey Wade was money down the stretch of games. He made a number of key plays in crunch time.

It is ok to disagree and those two players may not be all league, but they had strengths this team sorely misses and nobody on this roster has stepped up to fill their roles.

Would be my pick for AD. Served under a great AD at Florida and has done amazing work at Charlotte.
”Hypothetically, you have a coach resign the day before your season starts. You name an interim and surround him with one of the best coaching staffs in D1. He wins a lot of games by the skin of his teeth, but is complaining about recruits being standoffish due to not having a head coach in place. The interim has no experience and is working his tail off to salvage what he can, but is obviously in over his head. You take a leap of faith and throw the dice on the horse you know and sign him to an ironclad 3 year contract. He is still in over his head and underdelivers. There are no recruits committed for the next season. High roller donors have all folded for the season.

Donors and fans are looking at you to make a move. What is your first action to restore faith in the program?”

CP is a really good basketball player, but he isn’t a creative guard. If he gets into the lane he is can be an effective scorer, but if he has to pass the ball it all falls apart. Everyone wanted to blame Tyson for the meltdown Saturday, but CP had two unforced turnovers on drives and screened the wrong defender on a key set play down the stretch (never-mind Ricky, Dex and Mo all making questionable plays)

If you go to today’s Eagle article… Taylor does a good job of showing what is working and what isn’t working with the offense….
You're on an island. CP is more of a PG than AG ever was or would be. Lets not forget that AG was a 23 year old 5th year senior last year.

If this were true, I think we'd have a different record right now.
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

You think this team would have a better record just with AG? Lol!

You're right. Alterique wasn't a difference maker. We are much better with Porter. Our coach is telling his team to always put the ball in Tyson's hands. Tyson is good, but he should be a decoy more often with set plays at the end of the half, or game, or even strategic times in the game.

I like CP, but AG was (as a 5th year Senior) more polished at the PG position last season than CP is this season. Would have loved to have a 1-2 punch of AG and CP this season.

You could probably throw K-State in that discussion. They tied for first in the Big 12 in 2018-19, finished last in 2019-20, 2nd to last in 2020-21, and are tied for last this year. K-State also returned more players the following year as they returned 8 players while WSU returned 7.

Besides Gilbert and the Wades, Poor-Bear Chander, Seymour, and Bilau didn't return. IMHO, having Poor-Bear Chandler and Seymour around this year would have been nice as they knew the system and would have experience in it vs the new guys in Pleasant and Pohto.

Another IMHO - this year's team lacks a purpose. Last year the purpose was to prove to people that the season wasn't going to be a disappointment after Marshall resigned and they had an interim head coach. I have no idea what their purpose is this year - maybe this late in the season it'll be to see if they can't turn things around, who knows. Same thing happened at K-State. They had seniors in 18-19 who were driven and with a purpose and they haven't had that since. I don't think the coaching staffs at either school have had much of a purpose in mind since they were first either.

I think AG was a better penetrator and dish guy, as well as drawing fouls, but presented little scoring ability.
While CP doesn't seem to draw the fouls and less dishes, he does have good ability to score.
