Wichita State at Tulane Game Thread 1-29-22

I don't think Wichita St. ever plays a guy over 6'-6" tall at the 4-spot. Even in the Marshall era. I'm sure I'm forgetting someone...but it's definitely been a minute since we played a big at the 4.

Well, the Shocks do have an extra scholarship available. Maybe look to see if you can get him enrolled soon! We need it.

He's only 9 but never too early for the class of 2031. I've worked with him on learning to take his open shots and he's starting to get it. It was very cool to see.

Anyway, back to strategy; in a close game that is dwindling down to the final minutes it's usually best to have the point guard running the show, right? 'Drive and Dish' or get to the charity stripe? No? Where has WSU's been in the final minutes of several close games this year? Just asking for a friend.

I thought RC IV was the answer after the Ok-State game, and man, was I ever wrong to even think that could ever happen 2 games in a row.

On a positive note, I feel better because the Chickens are about to get a well deserved home-court thrashing, so today wasn't a total wash. I knew the Chickens was having an important game tonight when cold decided to stick his big nose into the Shocker basketball forum.

It brings back fond memories of one of Jamar's favorite's (coach that is). Hey, wait a minute...

Even though we lost, I did see better movement of their bodies and the ball. Their slow start or Tulane's outstanding start, hurt bad. But the biggest problem is the way the shocks have closed out. Seems when it gets tight at the end of a game, they have basically the same play that the mascot calls in that commercial. ( Hook shot from half court). Maybe not exactly the same play, but not far off. Give it to TE to create something for himself while double teamed.

I'm starting to think that is the call from the bench, not TE's.

Correct. That Strategy is called Ride and Die. IB made us aware of this strategy day 1. I did not realize he meant his career, not just the team.

Between Ricky’s blunder and Mo barreling over 3 defenders with his patented spin move, I had a ‘home alone’ melt down. My outburst was “blank me in the blank!” Not a proud moment for WstateU.
