We had five open shots the last four minutes and missed them all. We need better players, smarter players and taller players. All it takes is two or three and IB looks like a genius.
I will say this, IB sounds as pissed as I’ve ever heard him…basically called his team dumb. The blame is on him but he at least he had some anger.
I think most of the blame is on him, but it's hard for me to put everything on the coach when I see guys repeatedly missing open threes and throwing the ball away for no reason. A little BBIQ would go a long way. That being said, HCIB really messed up in leaving our bench so thin. We basically have seven, maybe eight, guys who can handle more than 10 minutes a game. fHCGM would be pulling guys left and right with some of the bad play we are seeing but HCIB does not really have that luxury (which is his fault).
He made some shots but he still played selfish and made some dumb mistakes. Shox are so easy to defend in clutch situations because teams know 100% where it’s going and what he’ll do with it.
Agree to an extent on the selfish part.. I just thought his shot selection was way better. They were all set, elevating vertically and that reflected in his percentages. He also had a few good dishes.
Last 4 minutes were forced. Last 10 seconds? Awful... That's on IB and TE. It looks like they just tried to repeat the UNLV game... But Tulane only had 2 fouls... Soooo
Coaching is all about driving certain responses or behavior from a team. This team has not only not improved this season, they’ve regressed from last season. This is how programs collapse, and collapse quickly.
I’ll watch because I still support the student athletes but everyone else can go kick rocks.
Yup. Just bought my tickets for the Frisco Baseball Classic instead of coming to Wichita for the last home men's basketball game of the season.
Would MUCH rather watch the Shox baseball team right now.
And softball would be a no-brainer as well.
First baseball game is Feb 18th right? Just marked it down. Something to look forward too.
Cuz this basketball season is toast. Not going to Dallas, cancelled flight and hotel tix couple weeks ago. Any thought of reconsidering just went poof!
RefChic and I checking out baseball schedule... gotta get in at least one trip! See ya there Doc!
THIS times a million. This IS NOT ON IB. He was put in a terrible spot by a spineless AD. Kung Wu you can close down the men's basketball forum with ShockRef comment above.
That IS in fact ALL.
Nice to see you have corrected your opinion of BeltTight now Doc. Better late than never I always say. Many of us knew he was feckless loooooooong ago.
Especially Photo - can't let that kid sit. IB proves again he does not understand the
game well or manage players well. The end of both games with Tulane reflects it.
Inbounds in the back court with three seconds and they have fouls to give. How
fricken DUMB is that???? Officiating was really REALLY bad today. We had three
free throws to their 22. Our BBIQ from coaches to players.......bad. Cardinal rule
NEVER foul a 3 pt shooter and TE does it with seconds to go. We lose. Totally
PLAY PHOTO NOW before it is too late. Am begininng to wonder just how thick
headed IB is. Will always keep watching but IB is making it very painful in many
ways.
Known around the game as a player’s coach and all-around people person, Brown also proved himself resourceful in 2020-21. After opening the year 1-2 while playing and practicing shorthanded due to the COVID-19 protocol, his Shockers went on to win 14 of their next 16 games, including an upset of sixth-ranked and Final Four-bound Houston on Feb. 18.
Shortly after, Director of Athletics Darron Boatright replaced Brown's interim tag with a five-year contract.
On Mar. 1, 2021, Brown was formally introduced as the 26th full-time head coach in Shocker history and the state of Kansas' first black head men's basketball coach.
WSU went on to finish 16-6 (11-2 AAC). With its berth in the First Four, Brown became the first rookie head coach to lead a team to the Big Dance since Wisconsin's Greg Gard in 2016.
Seems like everybody wants to kill this ^^^ dude now. What happened to him?
Tyson did a better job shooting reasonable shots. In exchange, we did a much worse job holding onto the ball. Little home-court reffing for Tulane, but we also fouled too much regardless. Down the stretch, we had no clue what we were doing. Turned the ball over several times without a single player really representing a threat to score. When the defense doesn't have to rotate, it is way easier to gamble for passes or jump a big man with a double.
Tulane isn't 'the real deal'. They are better than before, but it is clear that a good team could beat them pretty consistently. We are not a good team, and have a serious chance of finishing under .500, and not just in conference. This team has a lot of grit and heart, but if you play hard and the other team plays hard and smart you won't come up victorious all that often. We need two consistent scorers and to keep our TOs under 12 a game to finish with a decent stretch, but even if we do we are far from any postseason.
