Impact opportunities only come along so often. When they do, those who make the decisions are forever known by what they decided and the reasons for making them.
WSU had an opportunity a year + ago to make one of those impact decisions.
The decision makers in this case choose the easy way out. It was the 'feel good' type of decision and at the time, had few detractors.
Consider yours truly a detractor.
There is a big difference in coaches who make suggestions vs those who make the tough decisions.
For example, Mike Cohen was actually a good assistant coach. Yes, he made good suggestions to those in charge.
We all know what happened when placed in a position when he had to make decisions.
It doesn't make career assistant coaches bad guys. Some are just not cut out to lead the charge.
As an poster pointed out earlier today, it all starts at the top. Right now, there is a definite odor emanating from the top of WSU. And about to get even more pungent.

I sometimes find it humorous to see multiple posters on here (who also post on the political thread) actually believe those persons with titles in an “administration” are the ones making the decisions. Those behind the scenes often get the praise when things are going well, and are always happy to have the “titles” there to take blame when things aren’t.

Was passing along thanks to Doc for acknowledging RefChick as a good person (which she is) - not me.
Speaking of trading bodily fluids, it's more entertaining when Fever and you are trading jabs. You two are made for each other.

Blame - Ego
1) FHCGM couldn’t adjust, wouldn’t accept accountability, and left WSU in an impossible situation.
2) We exited the MVC prior to achieving True Gonzaga status. Gonzaga Status = consistent 4 star recruiting and multiple made for TV Blue Blood Non-Con match-ups. We left too soon.

Just how many more years could we have been able to stay in the Valley and get better players than we could in the AAC and weather the ticking time bomb that was Shaq Morris?
More than likely, we would just now be getting that invite to the "new" AAC.
Gregg Marshall is probably the best coach WSU has ever had. Frankly, he is no Mark Few and that is not a slam.

As it stands - I would gladly take any MVC roster post 2011 vs. any roster we have had since “recruiting in the American.”
The ticking time bomb was GGG not Shaq. There were notable absences of many great Shockers until the GGG exit.
I think I agree about Mark vs Gregg, but FHCGM beat a really good team led by Mark Few.

That attracted guys like Landry Shamet - guys who could buy-in to what it takes to be great. In the MVC that would have held-up. Another run or two in the NCAA’s and maybe we could elevate to the next level guys and next level non-con games.
