The loss brought into focus (or will) for Stutz and Hall that they will have to step up their game offensively. Carl had a great game against CU on 12/31, but has faded into the woodwork since. Stutz hasn't been quite the same for the past 6 games or so, at least since he had back problems. The loss will bring new determination and focus all around. Not that it had been bad, because it hadn't, but like many said before the tournament, it you're going to take a loss, take it now, reqroup, refocus and kick some more butt for the next 6 games...

    GO SHOX!!!

Stutz and Hall won't be in the same foul trouble on a "neutral" court - no valley officials.

Unfortunately we may see at least Higgins again. He's not just a Valley Official and while some have said he was the best out of the 3 at this game I've often thought he gives WSU the shaft. He clearly missed the out of bounds call close to the end. I do agree that it will help us to start playing teams outside the MVC in the tournament. Anytime you play a team 3 times in 3 months its going to be tough. They know our tendencies as we know theirs. That is when the refs become a bigger factor in my opinion. ISUR had a game plan to take us out of our game by being really physical. Unless the refs set the tone and call fouls that game plan was going to work. They chose not to do that. You can guarantee that any team that we face in the dance will have yesterday's game as a starting point for scouting WSU. We've been shoved around before but we need to remember what made us this good and we'll be fine. I think we forgot that for about 15 minutes of yesterdays game. Right after the double T.

We need to run. The 65 point threshold has been brought up several times and I think this team should strive for 75 a game. Do this working from the inside out and we will be a nightmare for any team in the country.
Too bad that Jake had such a great game overshadowed by such a tough loss.

There is absolutely nothing good about any loss and if you want to soft-shoe it, fine, you are only fooling yourself.

This does not mean all is lost or that the team can't bounce back.
They have accomplished this several previous times
already this season. It simply means that our road to the Sweet 16, and
beyond, is going to be supposedly harder initially against stiffer competition.

They can't take regular season champions away from us as much as they would like to.

If the coach of the year didn't care deeply about this team and program he wouldn't have said the things he did. Looking forward to seeing our draw next weekend. Thank you to the coach and team for putting us in that position for the first time in six very long years.

This team has accomplished more in two years than nearly any other team in shocker history and this is what you come up with? You're no fan...quit posing.
You're weak. Your sunshine pumpin', yellow sunglasses wearin' attitude is downright sickening. You give yourself too much credit. Look, I'm not Miss Cleo and don't pretend to be like you are, but if you didn't see the pent up emotion GM and the players were trying to contain within themselves after the game yesterday, then you're as blind as the refs.

How can you easily dismiss the disappointment the team felt yesterday? I have no doubt by the time they hit the court again, GM will have had a long talk with the boys and get them re-focused and fired up heading into the NCAA's. But this loss not only stings but its going to stew in their bellies for a few days. If I had the means, I'd propose bringing a car painted in ISU red and officials black-and-white, give every player a sledgehammer, turn on some Metallica and tell them to go have fun.

This team had several missions this year to accomplish, win the valley, win the valley tourney, make the NCAA's. What transpired yesterday was a culmination of not playing up to par and having to deal with unprofessional officials. As a fan, I can only imagine what type of feelings the players have of losing the game, but having to deal with not making shots and the frustration of having to put up with the officials. That's a lot to deal with when you are so close to attaining another one of you goals.

So go ahead and tell yourself that the boys will be fine and have forgotten this game. The players may end up watching today's game and seeing the champion dance and parade around Scott Trade Center and they'll think of what happened to them yesterday. They are not happy campers now, and they will not be happy campers tonight.

Sure I would have loved the guys have a winning streak heading into the post-season, had they, then I believe a little bit of momentum would have been carried along with them. By mid-week at the latest, GM is going to get this team ready and I have no doubt that the team will buy-in and put forth the effort to make a run in the post-season.

You're no fan. Save the space on this board and quit pretending.

Unfortunately I've been reading your posts for too long and most of time you are heaping negative comments on this program and coach. Most of the time I bite my tongue
probably like many posters on this board but yesterday you insulted me with your posing so I couldn't help but respond.

You are either a poser or a vocal pessemist and both are weak places to be.

Different strokes son. It's like a tv or radio station, if you don't like it tune it out or change the dial. Do you think I lose sleep whether or not you approve of my observations? Do you honestly think I care whether or not if you think I'm a fan?

I've challenged many a soul on this board and I will challenge you. We can meet up and I'll show you my degree from Wichita State. No one has ever taken me up on my offer and I doubt you will do the same. You're just another internet tough guy who sits behind a laptop where confidence abounds and is only a keystroke away from making accusations. Yet, you lack the guile to try and prove me wrong when confronted.

I really have to question as to why you take my posts on a personal level. Are my words that strong? I had no idea that I carried so much weight on SN. Regardless, I'm done bickering with you and will not be drawn into another message board spat with your Richard Simmons like feelings. PM me if you want to take me up on my offer. I'll buy you 2012-2013 season tickets if you prove me wrong.

When you haven't won an MVC tourney title in, what, 22 years... there is NOTHING good about that loss. NOTHING good about not being able to score FGs in the last 6 mins. NOTHING.

I could have handled losing to Creighton in the finals because they are a good team. Losing, again, in the semi-finals is just garbage. The Shockers can STILL do some great things but unfortunately we have to sit on the loss for some time now.

Just checked Warren Nolan, after losing to CU today, ISUR dropped to 103. We are so close to 2 more top 100 wins, but just not quite there. Tulsa lost twice this week and now is 116 in nolan's rpi. So we lost another top 100 win this week.

I just dont see that happening. We'd have to get an offer, and Im honestly not sure what we'd bring to the table for them. We have a good bb program, yes, definitely, but we dont have football, something I could see them really looking at for when they merge.

You may be right but our basketball program and support alone should make us attractive as well as our success in all the secondary sports.

I hope we are at least pursuing it. Another sign of AD nads.
