Marshall vs. Miller

I am a little confused, can someone tell me what year Marshall lost to Drake in the NCAA?

Implying that Marshall had something to do with the move to the AAC?

What was his role if any in the move?

I know everybody here seemed to hate the Valley. I wanted to see WSU stay in the Valley where I thought it could have dominated given what Marshall had built...the Gonzaga of the Plains or something like that. In retrospect I think Marshall would have been happy to stay at WSU until retirement. Miller may have originally built the program but didn't want to stick around once the talent level was clearly on its way down.

Yes Ralph had to get out of town due to declining talent on the Shockers; I mean, after all, the first season after he left the Shockers were so bad they only progressed to the Final Four in the NCAA Tournament. If you want to bring this type of Beaker tripe to Shockernet you should at least familiarize yourself with the Shocker history you are trying to minimize.

Common knowledge in Kansas and especially on Shockernet the Beakers have been cheating since the KBOR forced Phog Allen to retire. How did the Beakers respond when the FBI offered evidence of the Beakers' buying players? They signed Bill Self to a life time contract. Please take those facts to the Phog Board and see how the discussion unfolds.

There is no scenario outside of criminal charges, or the recruiting absolutely tanking, where Gregg Marshall should have been fired from Wichita State. He earned his retirement. The method of his exodus is a sadness and always will be in my eyes.

Let me admit to some mistakes.

1) This thread should never have been started. It is impossible to compare the two coaches because of the incredibly different eras and conference affiliations of the two coaches. The Valley was a lot different in Miller's era.

2) My original post was WEAK and inaccurate. The posts disagreeing with my original post are much more accurate, reasoned, and thought out than my original post.

Miller was the coach when I started following Shocker basketball on a transistor radio 50 miles away from what's now CKA. It's easy to glorify the coach who first created interest in the program.

Please accept my apologies for starting a thread that I will now refer to as sewer garbage. I sincerely hope that this misguided thread will teach me to be a better poster in the future.
