"Former Wichita State All-American and two-time NBA champion Cliff Levingston will be inducted into the Missouri Valley Conference Hall of Fame next spring, the league announced Wednesday afternoon....

Originally from San Diego, the 6-foot-8 Levingston starred for the Shockers from 1979-82 and formed one half of the famous "Bookend Forwards" with teammate Antoine Carr. As a sophomore in 1980-81, Levingston was the leading scorer and rebounder on a WSU squad that won the MVC regular season crown and advanced to the Elite Eight. The following year, he was a Basketball Times Third Team All-American.

Levingston averaged 10.6 rebounds-per-game over his three seasons and totaled 1,471 career points, despite choosing to forgo his senior year. Levingston was selected ninth overall by the Detroit Pistons in the 1982 NBA Draft and later helped the Chicago Bulls to a pair of NBA titles (1991 & 1992). He was inducted into the Pizza Hut Shocker Sports Hall of Fame in 1990 and his No. 54 jersey has since been retired. Levingston is currently the head coach of the Kokomo (Ind.) BobKats.

Levingston becomes the 13th Shocker inductee, joining Dave Stallworth (1997 inaugural class), Xavier McDaniel (1998), Antoine Carr (1999), Joe Carter (1999), Cleo Littleton (2000), Ralph Miller (2001), Phil Stephenson (2005), Roland Banks (2006), Linwood Sexton (2011), Darren Dreifort (2013), Eric Wedge (2017) and Don Beggs (2017)."

How was he not already in? It's a shame he didn't get this honor while we were still in the conference. This is way overdue.
