Disclaimer: If this has already been talked about today, I apologize.

Pay the man whatever it takes and move along.
Didn't Seth Davis call us one of the last four in (New Orleans).

The thing is, Coach ain't making Sh#t money here. He isn't in the 300k - 400k range. He's over $1m. He has a winning program that is on the rise. A fan base that will die for him, and doesn't compete with football. Every program that comes offering can pretty much only offer him more money. If they were such great programs, they wouldn't suck, which they inevitably will, at the time they offer him. It will be a BCS program, that will have football, that 50/50 chance, football reigns supreme. And they will demand immediate results! Immediate! ie, 3 years, you better be in the top 25, or you're gone, type of situation. Now, I'm sure that GM will believe that no matter where he goes, he'll win, and he's probably right. But in terms of financial security, well, he's already got that here. If he were in the 300 - 400 range, than money would play more of a factor, but I think, you could make a case that financially, he's better off here. He's got a $1m + annuity as long as he wants it!! At a BCS school, maybe he does, or maybe some bad breaks go his way, and he doesn't pull it off. So he racked up $6 mil in his 3 years, and now he's gotta move again. And maybe he gets a $2mil/year job, after, but probably he doesn't. But at this time, had he stayed at Wichita, he's up to $1.4 or $1.5/year, right? And that ain't changing. He has a perennial top 25 team and has 3 Valley championships under his belt. 4 years in a row in the NCAA's, and so forth. Why give that up for uncertainty?

Now, I don't know what's in GM's head. I don't know what he wants. But, when I hear these pundits talk about these large dollars coming from other BCS programs, I sometimes wonder what some of the allure is.

        Sorry for the rant.

They don't. We are having one of our best seasons right now, but we are still just a 5 second blip on their radar. I lived up there 8 years and would listen everyday to 610 and 810. I can count on one hand how many times I ever heard WSU on the radio.

Additionally, he says KU would be -3 in Wichta and -7 on a neutral court against WSU.

Mizzou would be a tougher road game than WSU, but WSU would be a very tough game for KU

Unfortunately he also says our coach is a month away from a $2 million plus job offer...
Gee, I wasn't aware King had become Marshall's agent.

This illustrates the folly of paying too much attention to sports bloggers, joco -- you lose track of the difference between what he knows (i.e., his opinion as to where K-State ranks among the Kansas D-1 teams) and what he doesn't know but is willing to speculate about (i.e, whether Marshall will have a lucrative job offer headed his way).

Actually, we all know without having some sports guy tell us that Marshall will be a hot name this off-season, just like former Butler coach Brad Stevens has been the last couple of years, or former VCU coach Shaka Smart was last year. Oh, wait -- those guys are still in those jobs?

I don't like WSU's chances against KU this year. Smith is a great defender, but he'd be assigned to Robinson. Yikes! 6'4" trying to defend 6'10" who can hit from range or drive and finish. KU would be one of the worst matchup situations we could run into.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

I would think that Carl Hall would defend Robinson if we were to ever play them.

The mismatch could go both ways, how good would Robinson be chasing a strong 6'4" forward all over the perimeter who can hit a shot if you give him an inch? Sometimes I get tired of trying to adjust to other teams instead of forcing teams to adjust to us and exploiting our advantages.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

Having watched both teams extensively- My money would be on Da Shocks - against MU I think we would destroy them(MU hasnt any inside game and their guards arent used to in your face D)
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kickass ... and I'm all out of bubblegum.

I think WSU can destroy any team in the nation. Yeah, I said it.

                          A couple of thoughts...
-ANYONE who listens to Kevin Keitzman is killing their braincells...he's the achor guy of 810, I think.
-I LOVE the Shocks...and confidence is a key...but 'destroy' is pretty strong language....:)

It is simply information. Nothing more nothing less. No one is reading too much into anything. I posted this because Jason King of ESPN lives in KC and was at the UNLV and Creighton (Omaha) games and he was TELLING Kietzman and company just how good WSU is. As KCShox said, coverage of WSU is a rare event in KC. Although I will say, the number of WSU games on Time Warner has been phenomenal over the past couple of years.

In fact after listening to the podcast, he said we are definitely top 15 caliber. As far as the speculation on HCGM and any job offers, no one is/was reading into that any more than any other speculation. Jason simply made the statement while saying numerous times how good of a coach HCGM is - "really, really good". Most folks in KC don't have a clue just how good he is - good thing for us....
