  • Omaha paper comments on the McD dust up and officiating . . .

From the Omaha newspaper account - props to WSU . . . (and, on a side note - I will ignore the hundreds of posts coming up in the next few days on Shocker national ranking and just root for them to win Wednesday night - one at a time - Go Shox!!!)

"CU coach Greg McDermott, who has had a smile on his face much of this season, was seen lighting into his son, Doug, the team's star, on the sidelines. Reportedly, the scene got a lot of run on ESPN Saturday night.
When Nebraska football coach Bo Pelini does it, he gets hammered in some corners of the media and his fan base. The same is fair for Mac. Now, the Creighton coach is more media savvy than Pelini. He handled it better afterward, explaining that he was trying to light a fire under his team by getting after the star player, who wasn't doing so hot, either, the coach said.
These things can get overblown. Coaches yell at players. And Doug explained afterward that he took it the right way.
It was uncharacteristic of Greg McDermott, and it looked like a coach in a big game with a team on a quick slide down the hill and no idea how to stop the snowball.
Meanwhile, a former Creighton basketball player seated three seats down from Missouri Valley Commissioner Doug Elgin began yelling at Elgin during the game to get the officials off of Doug McDermott and keep one of the Valley's stars in the game. It was ugly.
He should have been yelling at Wichita State's Ben Smith, who put the clamps on Mac. This loss wasn't about officials. Wichita State lost center Garrett Stutz to a third foul in the first minute of the second half. Didn't bother the Shox one bit. "
If you take the high road, you won't find much traffic there . . .

when push came to shove on the biggest stage of the season, the Jays got pushed and shoved by one of their chief rivals.

Would love to know who this former player is. For a reporter to write that it was ugly is significant. Our reporters try so hard to seem impartial they come off as being for the other team sometimes....most notably Bruce and Bob. I don't think that you would ever know Bruce went to WSU, if fact, you would likely think he went to KU.

Elgin, I'm sure, would have loved to obliged. He is canny enough to know when to pick his spots though. Three McDermotts, Kobe, Jordan and a team of clock operators weren't going to change the outcome last night.

Ohhh, so that's why we won. I was wondering why we beat down the sCUm yesterday. It's nice to know it was Elgin commanding the referees to entrap Dougie God on national tv.

I too would like to know who the former player was. If the reporter said it was ugly, I'm sure it was 10 times worse actually happening. sCUm has failed a lot of things this game. They were called out on national tv multiple times by Stephen Bardo (ESPN color guy) for booing their team with 6 minutes left and then for packing up and leaving with 4 minutes left.

WSU has seized the moment and sCUm has embarrassed themselves on a multitude of levels. I LOVE IT.

                ... No really, deuces.

I think this is why they put a table on the Sports Sunday set, so that the viewing public couldn't see the trouser tent The Bruce was sporting when he talked about ku.

I'm assuming this is okay to post... but judging by the pictures he put himself on Twitter, the player was Chad Millard. Of course the pictures on Twitter are of Doug Elgin three seats away and Millard is complaining about the officiating (lol)

                        ZING!!! :good:

Doesn't surprise me coming from Millard. If he's the guy I'm thinking of he was quite the punk on the floor.

Garret Stutz agrees with Chad Millard, those refs do suck.

Seriously whatever bad calls were made on Dougie were not any worse than a couple on Stutz. Former player complaining about refs is just bad form and embarrassing for them. Also he better watch it, we all know Elgin is powerful enough to stop time.

Elgin might just have the most thankless job in the entire Valley. He catches shyte from all sides.

Sometimes when nobody thinks you're doing a good job it's because you aren't doing a good job.
