Myself, I don't blame the coach for going ballistic. This is probably their biggest game of the season, his players are flat, he can't get through to them.
He needed to get through to his players. I'm not saying he did it in the best way, but Bobby Knight probably would have been throwing chairs, Bill Self would have been trying to get T'ed up, maybe another coach would be trying to get thrown out of the game (like Dean Smith did when Carolina was blown out by Kansas a number of years ago in the NCAA).
His team did not look prepared. I would also say that given the competition and the venue, I have not seen the Shocks play like that in at least 30 years......let's hope they take some of this with them into the NCAA, it would be nice to see a long run and I know these guys can do it.....

I don't remember the score, but I do remember the Shox leading at Cuse by double figures at the half. My recollection is the Orange made a nice run in the second half as we won by 2 or 4...something like that.

He's a BAD defender. Not average, but BAD. And worse yet, he goal hangs more than Steve Zungul. The game's played at both ends young man.
He'll be POY in the Valley. But he's nowhere near an All American, 1st team or otherwise, and if you want to argue, tune into the UK vs Vandy game tonight. Think Dougie makes Kentucky's team? We were caps and sleeves at this level son, understood?

Why is everyone upset that a coach yells at a player, that's just life in a competitive environment. I experienced that ever since grade school (yes grade schools competed back in the old days). We sure aren't responsible for making Dougie boy into a NBA player. If he can't handle a little confrontation, I doubt that he will make it very far in Basketball. Live and let live, and let the dice fall where they may!!!

Trop, you're right far more often than not, but even if the Shocks finish 2 clear of the Jays, I think Garrett and Toure' split the WSU vote, giving it to Doug. Rags may get some votes too.
At this pace, there is reason to think as many as 3 Shockers could be 1st team.

I think a lot of the stunned looks on the faces of the Creighton players was because that kind of behavior (to my knowledge) is pretty out of the ordinary for Coach McDermott. A lot of frustration had no doubt wound Coach McDermott's spring pretty tight with the consecutive losses on the road to UNI and Evansville and then to have the Shocks come into their house in front of 18,700 fans and dominate his team the pressure became too much and the volcano erupted. The way Doug responded probably only exacerbated the eruption from Mt. McDermott.
The eruption certainly didn't help the Bluejays against the Shocks and may have even hurt them a little. Who knows for sure. However, I don't think it will prove to be an issue and may even yet yield some benefits. I think Crieghton will bounce back from this. What do they say about adversity. If it doesn't kill you it will make you better.
