  • Rank the CU, UNLV and UNI victories

1 CU The clear winner. Road win and makes the Shockers the Clear favorite for the Valley Champs. It's great to blow them out.
    2 UNLV
3 UNI still a great win but UNI is just not in the same league as the other two this year.

I'd have to agree. A blowout road win is the clear winner.

If you rank them by how the team played rather than by importance, I'd say CU, UNI, then UNLV. The CU and UNI games were more of a team effort. For the UNLV game, Ragland went off for 31 points to pretty much seal that win.

        1) UNI
        2) UNLV
        3) CU

        You think I'm crazy, right?

UNI was a serious trap game with a very confident team coming to CKA. The Shocks proved to themselves that they could play the inside-out game very effectively, and that ability will lead to success in the postseason.

UNLV was a statement game for the Shocks. After the Puerto Rico disappointment, the Shocks had to prove they could beat good teams. The beatdown did wonders for their confidence.

CU game was huge, but after watching them play, I have decided that they are leg-tired. While they were able to simply out-score teams earlier this season, their inability to play defense and especially now, late in the season, they can't stop other teams late in games. The February sCUm team is not as good as the sCUm team from the first 2/3 of the season.

All these wins are huge, though, for the program and for the current team. They have to be a very confident bunch right now with each player playing to their role and ability as HCGM mentioned in the post-game today.

          1. UNI: they actually played really good last Wednesday.. but WSU, #1 in the country, slapped a 25 on them. Impressive beyond words.
          2. UNLV: biggest name, best team
          3. CU: impressive in hostile environment

For years we've talked about the Shocks turning the corner, getting over the hump. Thanks to HCGM I think the sky is the limit. I'm talking final fours and championship games. What more could a fan ask for.

              BTW

              1. Creighton
              2. UNI @UNI
              3 UNLV

I put the CU win today as the best win of GM's career. Namely because of all of the times we have had a chance in the past few years to make a statement, or put ourselves in a great position for either an at-large or Valley title and we've fallen short. This game was walking up to the door and kicking it in!!! I believe that this game will be a defining moment in Shocker history and takes us to the next level. When we were this close last time, we went to the sweet 16, and followed it up with a top 10 ranking the next year, but collapsed, and the rest is history. I believe that the recruiting classes are getting better! We continue to make strides. Not saying we will do as well as the team from 2006 in the tournament, but I believe that the state of the program is in better condition, looking toward the future. This game tells our boys that we can compete with anyone, anywhere.

UNLV is a better team than the Bjays. That was our biggest win of the year and probably our best performance so far. NIU? Who cares. That program should never beat us except under fluke circumstances. Our program is to NIU as KU's program is to ISU. While reality hasn't reflected that on the basketball court, keep HCGM happy and losing to NIU will be a thing of the past. I said it long ago, I wouldn't call HCGM an X's and O's mastermind, but a recruiting guru he is. He dominated the Big South with talent disparity and depth and looks to be setting up to do that in this conference as well. Next year's class will be more talented than this year's class. That should scare the NIU's of the world.

I agree completely with Cold's assessment. UNLV was the biggest win, followed closely by the beatdown of Creighton. Uni is a good team, but not quite good enough, and their win over Creighton was almost pure luck. And we didn't beat these teams by 1 or 2 points, we left treadmarks on the court with them.

It is a great day to be a Shocker!

                              1. UNLV
                              2. CU
                              3.

UNLV was undefeated, 20th ranked, top team from the 5th ranked RPI conference. We beat them by 19 on tv and ESPN radio. That made people sit-up and take notice. All else being the same, if we lose that game, at home, we're in no ones conversation today.
