Senior Night February 25, 2012

I thought I would get this out there early for everyone to plan. We play Drake and the time has been changed to 12:30 in the afternoon for TV.

5 outstanding young men will play their final game at home.

5 men who have brought a lot of success to this program, and 5 men who given a lot, and taken a lot to get where they are right now.

Men that in many ways deserve a better fate than they've received (so far).

I hope we as fans can give them the send off they so richly deserve.

Is it too much to ask to fill the arena for these guys?

I know it's too much to ask to have the Administration provide a worthy production.

I know it's too much to ask to have the Administration provide a worthy production.

It's a little tough to have a huge production when you introduce your Seniors pre-game. After all you have a basketball game to play. Start it too early and you have a half empty arena. Even as it is many fans don't arrive in time for the Senior night acknowledgments. Or they arrive and mill around in the concourse right up until game time. I know I always try to adjust my normal game time ritual to make sure I am there for the Senior Night acknowledgments.

Perhaps they could have Cheerleaders go through the concourse about 5 minutes before the scheduled event yelling "Time For Senior Night" and move as many fans as possible into the arena. They should definitely close the Champions Club and SASO Room a little early that night (not sure if this is done or not).

One little tweak I would like to see is to have the players and their parents wait until all of their accomplishments have been read/announced before starting their walk to center court. As it generally is now they start walking, the crowd responds and half their accomplishments are drowned out. Having them wait allows for all the accomplishments to be better heard and the crowd's acknowledgment to be the focus as the player and parent's walk to center court.

I sure would not switch to a post-game production at WSU. I think some schools like KU do this. But I'm pretty confident most of the WSU crowd would have cleared out before you could even get started.

At least flashing the lights in the concourse. Or do those take ten years to warm up, too?

I hope we have a sell out and a full house for senior day. These seniors deserve that.

Far be it to steal something from KU, but the AFTER the game speeches are very cool....
