  • Congrats to Shocks on Win #20

I thought this was a somewhat interesting factoid in the Eagle:

    Big No. 20
The Shockers improved to 20-4, giving the program 20 wins for the third straight season.
That doesn’t happen often - coach Gene Smithson did it in 1981, 82 and 83. Mark Turgeon did it in 2004, 05 and 06.
WSU now has 14 20-win seasons, six cominng in the past nine seasons

Yes, congrats! But I also look at it as meaning we're probably only a handful of crappy losses away from having been to the NCAAs five or six times in the last decade instead of just one. Sigh.

How often have we won 20 games before the State's "Flagship" school has won 20? My guess is not very often.

In Live-Rpi now, Creighton went to #16, WSU moved up to #26, and UNI is at #49.

Heard on the postgame this is the first time the MVC has had two 20-game winners before the super bowl was played.

Congrats to Coach Marshall and the team! Hopefully they will pick up several more wins this season. GO SHOCKS!

To get to 30 wins and beat last year's record would require winning out from here to the S16.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

I heard that at the arena as well. My first thought? Really happy that someone got that VALLEY stat out there for all to hear (does anyone really give a flip if another MVC team reached 20 wins...Do you think CU fans care that we finalized that little feat...who the hell even keeps track of that?) yet we couldn't seem to remember Garrett getting 1000.

Maybe if we're lucky, they'll stop play in 10 days when CU and WSU become the first 2 teams to reach 21 wins before Valentine's Day.
