The only thing you really need to know about what Shockernet members think of Jake Odom as a player is that the young man does have his own dedicated thread. You generally don't see that for crappy players, so I'm figuring Jake must be pretty solid.

Regarding the 40 foot shot Jake made at the end of the half, although I am a season ticket holder who attended the game, I also recorded it at home on my DVR. I thought it would be interesting to see what the ESPN TV guys said during the game, etc. I was also not happy with the traveling call on Stutz near the end of the 1st half, nor the amount of time the ref's gave Indiana State to run their play at the end of the 1st half, i.e, 3.4 sec's.
I watched the replay of the game on our DVR yesterday. First off, Stutz didn't travel. ESPN even showed the play over again in slow motion, & they didn't see the travel then either. I wondered if perhaps the refs thought it impossible that a big guy like Stutz could move his feet that well, so they assumed he couldn't and called the travel anyway.
For the Indiana State play at the end of the 1st half, I stopped my DVR right when they rebounded Ragland's missed shot from the right side of the basket. The time left was either right at 3. sec's or slightly less, say 2.8 to 2.9 sec's. How the ref's came up with 3.4 sec's is beyond me! Take 0.4 to 0.5 sec's away from the time left in the half, & Odum wouldn't have had time to make the shot from 40 feet. Good thing the ref's didn't ahve to figure that sort of thing out at the end of the game, eh? Did anyone else record the game on their DVR so they can double check me on this?
Btw, ESPN showed a portion of 3G's speech in the dressing room at the half. He said something like, "this is a a well coached team. They have good players. You're going to have to go out and win it".

Not sure about what the ref saw or thought he saw on the travelling call on Garrett but that was a bad call. Whether that one involved and official getting sped up and anticipating it's hard to say.
