Khan, have you looked at WSU's schedule lately? If the Shocks put together a losing streak that includes Drake, MoSt, and Creighton, it'll have to be five games long and also contain home losses to IndSt and the UNIs.

Panic setting in after one disappointing loss? Get a grip on yourself, man.

At least Davidson, despite its missteps, has done something noteworthy that people will remember if the Shocks are able to beat them.
Rpiforecast.com disagrees. Not counting the BB against WSU, Davidson, assuming they win out over the worse debris they play, would finish just outside the top 50. If ORU loses the 2 out of their last 6 games, not counting BB, they finish in the upper 40s.

Thanks, ShockTalk; fair point. Actually, I wouldn't have minded a game in the shadow of The Praying Hands at ORU -- it's an easy trip for Shocker fans (notwithstanding the vexation that ORU has been in recent years, especially on the diamond). And you know they'd rather have had WSU than that soccer school they ended up with instead. But when it comes to basketball, Davidson is still much more of a name opponent, for what that's worth -- and their win over KU was more recent.

Wow. Davidson is smaller than Friends or Newman. According to the Eagle their enrollment is just 1,920. How in the world do they compete in division 1?

Just went to their website: Davidson College. Their arena was built in 1989, it holds a little over 5000 for basketball. And they almost never lose at home.

Their only loss at home this year was 87-83 to Vanderbilt.

Their attendance has averaged 3,784 per game this season, with the two biggest crowds being 4,546 for the Citadel and 4,475 for Vanderbilt.

They are located in a town also named Davidson (in North Carolina) population of the town, get this, 7,139.

They do have something I wish we had. A football team. Amazing a small school of 1,920 can afford football but WSU can't.

One interesting tidbit I found connecting us and Davidson (kinda). Marshall recruited Steph Curry while at Winthrop (two of only three schools to give him a scholarship offer)

Imagine how things could be different now had Steph gone to Winthrop instead?

I pray Marshall can land a gem like Steph for us one day. Would be fun to watch. We haven't had a pure scorer in ages.

Davidson has some money. Very exclusive, private. A solid basketball tradition before Steph Curry.

It is a unique place. All students must sign an honor code and the judicial review board is made up entirely of students. Many times they propose punishments that even the faculty and staff consider a tad strict.

As a student at Davidson, you used to be able to leave your laundry outside your door to have it returned the next day washed and folded.

@_kai_: I was just thinking that it might be helpful if, in addition to the new "thank for this post" and "like this post" options that there could also be a "dislike" or perhaps even a "this post makes me want to drive a ball-pin hammer through my eardrum" option. Just spitballin'.

We can't do anything about it so let's stop the crying and focus on the next game.

A couple things i dont understand:

Why does the team that lost to a 300 level rpi team get to play a team as highly regarded as WSU? So they basically lay an egg saturday and get rewarded?

They obviously had this matchup already decided b4 saturdays game. We demolish Drake and I believe we still get this game.

Why is the Valley not rewarded based on strength of conference? Should'nt ESPN be catering to the valley? because we all know without the Valley involved this bracketbuster thing is busto.
                      I really dont get it.

I think this weekend sealed Bracketbusters fate and ESPN knows it. They're going to do whatever they want the next three years and then just let it fall apart when the Valley bails.

I think 3G should just "accidentally" over schedule by a game next year and then say "oops, I guess we can't participate"...

That would be very inconsiderate, but I like it. Sometimes it helps for me to know my comment was an absolute brain fart
