How about....Frank Haith has now stolen money from THREE Division 1 teams? I see him as a horrible, uninspiring coach...wish Sterling could see that...

It's kind of sad when this great forum and fanbase don't get excited about playing Tulsa. A Pandemic will do that for you. This would have been one of the travel games for us ( wife and friends) this year but as the aforementioned pandemic is still going strong we will remain home. We owe them one for giving the game away at their place last year and I hope our Shocks have spent practice improving on rebounding and shooting. Go Shocks beat Tulsa.

This is going to be an ugly grind of a game...two solid defenses and two well below average offenses. First one to 60 wins.

While i generally agree with that .. he IS coming off an AAC championship ... even if that championship was because of a lot of luck (shots and scheduling).

I looked it up...he actually had a good record at Mizzou...was he forced out by cheating?

Transition defense, rebounding, shot making. If we improve one of those three things it’s likely a loss. Improve two and we’ll have a chance to escape with a win. Improve all three and I think we start conference play 1-0.

Now that there is a a proven top coach on the market, I think Tulsa might have a new coach next year.

                      Works been super busy. Sorry.

Tulsa 1-2. Won their last game against Utah. Lost at TCU and S Carolina. Play 7-8 players pretty consistently, so they're not a super deep team. They do have something Shocks don't....4 Seniors and 3 Juniors. Led by 3 Guards: Joyner, Rachal and Simpson (Soph). Tulsa can be a little turnover prone, but I haven't seen them play so I don't know if that is attributed to their schedule or style of play. No incredible assist numbers, so unless they've just had tough defense to play against, tendency will probably be to shoot it up from outside or drive and score (with no kickouts). They will be a threat from 3 ball range as those 3 account for the bulk of their scoring and 3ball% shooting. (42%, 41%, 31%) So I don't know about help D or switching, Shocks haven't been super at switches. Just keep your eyes on those 3 when they're in the game. Weird part is Joiner and SImpson are statistically bad ft shooters at 54% and 25%. (insert funny head scratching meme here)
Hope the Shocks win, but if Tulsa has to win, PLEASE make somebody else do it. Key on those 3 guys. Especially senior Rachal (6'6" 220 lbs).

Yes, there are other players capable on their team, but statistically they don't appear to be a great shooting team, kind of like WSU. I expect a back and forth game. I expect the team with the better post play will come out ahead in this game as the two teams are fairly even on the putside. Probably going to be some lead changes (insert funny Sesame Streets "the Count" counting to 7 here) and hopefully the Shocks pulling away late and winning by 6 points.

WSU wins 65 to 60. Tyson haas a good shooting night against Tulsa defense when Gilbert can get him the ball. Clarence Jackson goes crazy on the offensive boards against the poor defensive rebounding Tulsa team. The only downside is Gilbert and Trevin turn the ball over to much against Tulsa defense.

Since Tulsa has been in Covid shut down, I wonder if they actually have their full roster available tonight?

edit: I checked out one of the Tulsa message boards and they don’t seem to know the answer to this either.

They don't seem to be aware there is a game .. so basically just like a normal year.
