UNI game thread

It is often talked about freshmen hitting a wall. I have a feeling that Carl has hit a wall. A lot different flying around the midwest rather than short bus rides in NW Florida. Having said that, I believe he will get his second wind and bounce back with a vengence. He is far too competitive.

I was kind of thinking that might be the case myself. I agree with you that I think he will bounce back.

We might have pulled this off tonight, but we played terribly for most of the 1st half and for about 50% of the 2nd half. That needs to not happen again. Luckily for us, UNI isn't very good and our talent prevailed in the end. That won't happen against someone like Creighton. If they out-rebound us and we play as poorly as we did for as long as we did tonight, it won't be pretty. Hopefully we learned a few things about adversity and how to overcome it tonight. Squeaking out a win doesn't hurt either.

Just playing devil's advocate, what is everyone's feelings if TM's wild behind the back junk doesn't go in for the lead? That was an incredibly out-of-control junk shot, an essential turnover on most nights. That was really one of the only crazy plays that he did tonight and thankfully it went in. He probably shouldn't be going with that shot too many more times though. :)

Ben Smith has hit a wall also. I wonder if it is due to having to play the 4 part time. TM had a similar problem last year when he started out the year at PG.

This game and the Illinois State one are the types of games we've lost the last few seasons. Winning when you play poorly is what excellent teams do. This team has a chance to accomplish some really, really special things.

He had a tendency this year to follow up great games (and lucky plays) in one game with bone headed plays and lots of turnovers in following games. Let's hope that trend does not continue....

I think all you can say is "it was just in the cards tonight," but don't make it a habit Toure.

UNI might not stay in the top 50 rpi until the end, but they might and a road win vs. a top 100 is a solid resume item.

While there is a small chance UNI could finish very strong and finish in the top 50 it is VERY UNLIKELY. But barring a total collapse they will finish in the top 100 and as you said winning on the road at a top 100 is a nice plus on the resume.

UNI still has to play SIU twice and BU once. Just playing those 3 games will probably knock them out of the top 50. The only reason their rpi is still 38 is their SOS and that will take a big hit after those 3 games.

Sometimes you need to go with what info your eyes are sending to your brain. It was pretty obvious what needed to happen.
