Coaching search

Especially in the era of COVID and especially at this time of year - where the heck does the university start with a coaching search? I’m assuming we are going to have an interim head coach.

I also have zero faith in our current athletic department to get another 15+ year coach. I feel like we just swallow what was going to be an asterisk year in college basketball and use that extended time to get a specialist who goes out and gets us what we need.

But the overriding truth is we as fans are about to get our ego bubble popped. We may have had a top paid coach but we aren’t going to attract that talent. We will have to find talent that will grow into that.

And considering what is happening and the off the court issues with other Marshall coaches, I can’t imagine getting a coach from his coaching tree here. At least right now.

So what’s next?

Jeez guys it’s a little to early to be looking for a coach. We can speculate but HCGM is innocent until proven guilty. If he puts in his resignation or gets fired then yes we can start talking about a future HC. Until then HCGM is out coach! I see players standing up for him like Cle Early. I hope more come out to back up HCGM. As most of the news seems fishy to me.

We should presume the OP is a Jayhawk based on:

1) Hasn't posted in a long time, and first post is when negativity hits the fan

2) Presuming a negative hit piece on WSU is all true

That's pretty compelling, and I don't think we need to hear his side of the story to determine he's a Jayhawk and we need to commence a new fan search to replace him.




* I know Rosewood to be a VERY solid Shocker fan and supporter of the University, and I really like his in game commentary (generally some pretty funny stuff). I only posted the above to show how presuming the truth of something written, even with evidence, can really just be ... wrong. We need to hear both sides before we start drawing conclusions.

Amigos - i know it’s going to take a bit to process this awful news but once you do you’ll get there - the women’s coach was fired for less. Other coaches have been fired for less. And there is a history of behavior here.

I loved watching HCGM coach. But this behavior never was acceptable — See Bob Knight. I hate that this is how it ends but this is how it ends.

if you aren’t ready to accept this eventuality I understand. But for those of us who are where this road is taking us — even though I fully acknowledge we aren’t there today — it’s time to have the discussion. Personally I find thinking about the future helps ease the pain.

Expecations are high and coaches are tough.

What a bunch of pansies we Americans have become.
Look at our pathetic response to COVID.
Ben Franklin warned us that those who would give up liberty for security will have neither liberty nor security.
Yet we rush to let our government masters run our lives over COVID.

Marshall should not go ANYWHERE.

This remind me of that idiot Lew Perkins running Gene Smithson off, and Shocker basketball went into the tank for 20 years.

That is 100% of college basketball and football coaches.
That is the way it is.

The players have a right to leave if they don't like it.
They know full well what they are getting into when they sign up, Marshall doesn't hide it.

I'm with Marshall 100%.

If they corroborate some of these allegations, he should be sanctioned in some manner.
He will learn from this and improve.
He is a good man.

Let's not get the posse and the rope ready just yet.
Let's have some faith in this man who has led us admirably for 15 years.

#2. This is one of the dumbest things I've heard today. You jumped off of a cliff and only a couple are jumping with you at this time. When there is an opening or at least more is known, then I'll consider and listen to you.
