  • Another Shocker HOF Class and No Robert Elmore

It's been over 34 years since the death of Robert Elmore, and still no HOF committee member can step-up and give him what he deserves; A place in the Shocker HOF. I know there are people out there who will debate his off the court issues and the circumstances surrounding this death. But how can a man who is only 1 of 3 WSU Players to have 1,000 Points and 1,000 Rebounds (The others being Cheese Johnson and Xavier McDaniel), not be considered worthy? This outcry can also be compared to the late Len Bias, former Maryland standout who was drafted by the Boston Celtics. who also cheated life and died of similar circumstances. He is also has not been inducted into the Maryland HOF.

I enjoy the many Shocker greats of any sport get their opportunity to be inducted into the Shocker HOF. But, to continue to overlook this man and his accomplishments is a travesty. His brother and well know broadcaster, Len Elmore, has said he would be here in a heartbeat to represent his brother and induct him into the HOF. What can we do to beat the drum and get this committee to wise up and recognize Elmore accomplishments before its too late.

Bob Lutz is a big supporter of getting Robert Elmore into the Shocker HOF and he said on Sports Daily this morning that he was chatting with Dave Dahl about and that Dave agreed that Robert should be in. I think Bob has written a number of columns on this over the years to no avail.

Bob is also proponent of having Warren (Armstrong) Jabali's jersey retired along with the Rave's, X, Cleo, Antoine and Cliff.

These are two opinions that I have to agree with Mr. Lutz on but I'm not holding my breath that either one will happen.

You have many other supporters here, but you are preaching to the pulpit. It is indeed a real shame. The committee is only penalizing Robert's fans, teammates, and family.

I don't know what kind of grassroots effort it would take, if any, would work. I'm sure that the committee, WSU, and his family could work together to change this sad tragedy into a positive, learning situation for the benefit of Wichita's youth.

I agree 100%...he should be in. Tragic end, but SHOULD not diminish what he did here...
