    • By the way, I thought Carl Hall did a good job of defense on Seck. Seck is not a polished offensive player but he is key to SIU's offense. Carl is showing he can defend away from the basket.
Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

      • Seck is really good. Carl is picking things up at record pace for us in terms of Juco transfer comparisons from our past. If there be room, bring us some more warriors with heart and determination like Carl Hall. My biggest concern coming in this Season for our beloved Shocks, was trying to offset the inside loss of Ellis, Hatch, Gabe, and JT. Now THAT was a hit. Stutz and Hall pack quite an inside presence and a 1-2 punch!!!
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

If you are the Voice of the Shockers you shouldn't be off doing other things on game day.

Mike Kennedy, the radio voice of the Shockers, has done over 1000 straight games on radio, he certainly didn't miss today to go to the Cotton Bowl.

In fact, I don't think that is a good excuse. Wasn't the Cotton Bowl played yesterday? I think he easily could have gotten a flight from Dallas to St. Louis late last night or early this morning and done today's game anyway.

If he is not that committed to Shocker basketball, he shouldn't be "the Tv voice of the Shockers" That is all I am saying.

I guess I am a little offended that the TV Voice of the Shockers would put ANY K-state event over a Shocker game he is suppose to be broadcasting.
          Hey SuperFan89,

The Bruce is the sports anchor at KWCH. That, like a lot of college play-by-play guys, is his first job. That will obviously take president when need be. Mike Kennedy is hired by WSU to specifically call play-by-play for them. If not having Bruce there bothered you that much, maybe you should write a letter to your buddy Eric Sexton and question him why they put Shocker telecasts exclusively on Cox 22, which limits viewers, and give him an earful. Also, don't turn the tv sound on. Problem solved.

I wasn't able to watch any of the game but I did peruse the game thread and box score. I did notice some big shockers. Toure led the team with turnovers and also had the worst FG % on the team. Why does Marshall even let him shoot from 3? I don't get it. And why isn't the coach telling him to feed it to Stutz? I've noticed it too. He completely ignores him. It's kinda annoying, especially considering Stutz had obvious matchup advantages this game. I guess there always has to be a stumbling block to a team..

Great game by Stutz AGAIN. I couldn't believe Gregg didn't throw a zone at SIU. Sure, they were hitting 3's above their normal average but I think it would have been effective. The stubbornness demonstrated by GM is hard to take sometimes, especially when he continually plays players for long periods of time after bone-headed plays. He must be softening up a touch as it looks like he is finally calling timeouts when opponents go for big runs.

I'll take the double-digit win. Still lots to work on. Tuesday is gonna be tougher than expected but it should be a W. This team MUST defend the home court. It's becoming a bit disturbing.

I haven't been paying attention as to whether Toure is feeding Stutz lately, except for the last game and this one. He fed him several times tonight and two of his turnovers came from trying to force a feed to Stutz -- once when he shouldn't have, he was open and close range and should have just put it in the hole.I'm guessing coach picked up on what you are talking about and has him trying to dish to Stutz more often.

He did throw zone at 'em twice at least -- toward the end of both halves, and it bothered them badly both times. Also he was subbing more players in this game, but I have a feeling it was only because he was forced to (early foul trouble for the bigs in the first half). I'd like to see him play the deeper bench that was effective for us at the beginning of the season. Of course Cotton's line shows 3 turnovers in 1 minute? Can that be right?

                • Mark Ewing did a fine job during the game IMO. I wish Bruce would step aside, to lighten his load (he does seem a busy man, getting back from a game to do morning Sports Daily and all), and let Ewing take over. He did such a good job today.

                  • Not me. Ewing was great and Ewing plus Haertl would be a great team! Bruce is not the one that needs to step aside.

Murry also led the team in assists and tied for steals. He was only 1-3 from 3, but that was better than his season average. He does better shooting the 3 if he has time to set up.

That's two play-by-play guys though. Stewart is the color-man.

C'mon, Bruce- take a break.. you've earned it.

                          • I think Marshall uses pressure and zone as a way to disrupt opponents at key times in the game. Those types of defenses seem to be most effective for brief periods of time.

If you watched the Cotton Bowl, Snyder didn't go to KSU's most effective offensive schemes until a few minutes into the second half. I believe the plan was to disguise what KSU wanted to do and then use their best stuff when it wasn't expected. That worked until their opponent expected it and adjusted to it.

There are a lot of things that may be effective for 5 - 7 minutes n a basketball game. There are very few things that are effective for 40 minutes. Picking your poison is what coaching is all about. Marshall does a pretty good job of calling a game to keep the opponents guessing. The players don't always execute the plan and sometimes the opponents adjust quickly to what the Shox are doing.

                            • Another good road win. I will take 10 point road wins any day. Stutz and Rags played exceptionally well.

I remember not too long ago when we went year after year without getting a win in Carbondale.
