Wow. What a start to Valley play. We may have to bring back the term "Valley of Death."

It's only round 1 of an 18 round fight but I am hoping for some top from bottom separation. I think that would work better for multiple bids. I'm not too surprised that UNI and ISUB lost on the road. MSU beating CU doesn't help the Valley from a ranking visabilty standpoint. Of course, our convincing victory on NYE should put us on the cusp of the rankings if not in.

I understand the separation argument, but in the best year in MVC recent history, 2005/06, the separation was the top 6 and the bottom 4.

And the #2 team in the MVC, Missouri State, didn't make the tourney. Neither did #4 Creighton. A case could have been made for all six to make the tournament. I think Jim Nantz and Bill Packer would have crapped themselves.

                  Wichita State 14-4
                  Missouri State 12-6
                  Southern Illinois 12-6
                  Creighton 12-6
                  UNI 11-7
                  Bradley 11-7

Ah yes, but there was separation. Those 6 teams won 72 of a possible 90 games. The bottom 4 won a total of 18 (5-5-4-4).
