  • If we win the Valley regular season, I'd say TM has a great chance at getting PoY. People love winners.

Because of our balance, other teams can't take 1 guy out of the game and beat us. You contain Dougie and the rest of the Bluejays can't beat you.

I watched Dougie quite a bit last night. My first impression was that he was not impressive. He is slow, lacks quickness and is a modest jumper.

Later I became more impressed. He has a nose for the ball and is very good in traffic. When left open, he will knocked down 3s.

Before last night, some stats were as follows:

        FG% - 61.5
        3FG% - 56.3
        FT - 83.8
        RB - 8.6

I am not sure he is a NBA talent. Of course, that is what I said about Prince Korver.

        • One game, time to move on, but the guys sure did look good last night. The last 3 games have been decided by a total of 138 points. Has that EVER happened in our history? In anyone's history? That's a STUNNING number, I don't care who you are playing.

The defense in the second half against Utah State is becoming a distant memory, yet I suspect the guys are reminded of it constantly behind closed doors.

The 3 most telling comments from Coach Ford, imho:

“They’re playing with an edge,” Ford said. “To beat people like that, you’ve got to have an edge. They were mad when we scored. When we hit that 3 from the corner to get to 51 points, they were ticked off.”
I LOVE that. Keep being mad. Remember getting screwed in St. Louis. Remember the failure against SIU. Remember the feeling of getting left out of not 1 but the last 2 NCAAs. Remember being 2nd....twice. Remember the debacles against UNI. Remember Weems. Remember Creekmore. Stay pissed.

"I don’t know who their best player is,” Ford said. “I don’t know. They’ve got a lot of ’em.”
That's right Coach.....and we've got some more in the waiting and on the way.

Marshall constructs his teams to compete with the big boys of college hoops. The Shockers have size, strength, athleticism, ball-handling skill, shooters, balance, depth and experience.
Short term goals....long term goals. If I'm right, you're about to see Coach Marshall at his finest....and it will be good.

And what makes all this work is that the guys play as a team, are unselfish and seem to have very good chemistry that binds all these ingredients into a very solid basketball team.

              • McDermott is somewhat Bird-like in that he is a better BASKETBALL PLAYER than it seems like he should be.

                  • Interesting reading the meltdown on their board. I don't know if Geno it's going to be a good coach or not, but I do know it takes a bit for coaches to adjust to the Valley. Remember when 3G came to town talking about how he didn't want any more of these big bulky players and instructed Rosenboom to lean the guys up, which he did, with poor results. Few years in, look at our players-jakked! You can come into a situation wanting to do one thing, but in the end you have to adjust to the conditions on the ground. We'll know how good GF is in 3 years.

                    • Doug Mcd just gets the ball out of his hands so quickly (especially in the lane) - the defense has no time to react. I am very impressed by him....

                      • If I was on the Coaching Staff at WSU, I would post this on the locker room wall. Bradley player Taylor Brown commented after the game at the press conference:

Question: “From a player’s standpoint, how tough is this ending on your own home court?”
Response: “If I had stopped the first three offensive rebounds, we would be talking about a win right now.

Question: “How does WSU compare to some of the other non-conference opponents this season?”
Response: “WSU is a good team, but we have played better teams…our 12 or 13 guys are better and we should have come out of here with a W.”

                        • Just wanted to get this in.

After perusing through the threads over at the Mecca, I'm reaffirming my longstanding point that tornado is a moronic douche that knows nothing about college basketball or sports in general. He is a sore, sore, sore, hypocritical loser. I hope you enjoyed that 40 point beatdown on your home floor.

Sorry, I had to get that out there.
