I just checked real time rpi and they have WSU at 27, Ku at 28 and Kstate at 31. I found it quite interesting that the 3 state schools are bunched so close together with WSU on top.
Also worth noting, UNI is at #6, Creighton is #14 and Indiana State is #47.

K-State sure looked good against Bama and KU against Ohio State, but not versus Davidson. Even so, our beloved Shocks looked tough against UNLV who beat N. Carolina whom was #1 at that juncture. Now that Conference play begins, more light will be revealed as to more accurate RPI'S. Will all 3 of us make the Dance? Will the Valley place more than 1 team in the Dancing mode this Season? Stay tuned.Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.Comment

Well, as long as it's a list of good teams and not bottom teams, it's best to be at the top of it, I guess.
As for the other thoughts:
1. Marshall really hasn't done anything yet. (Winning the NIT is like being #1 on best mid major poll in December.) So don't worry about him leaving just yet.
2. Once we start rolling out annual top 25 teams, turning out legit pro talent and making final 4's, we won't even give two craps about these polls.
3. Who cares what conference we should be in. We are in the Valley right now, and we need to start dominating these teams year in and year out. If we want to be thought of as above a mid major conference, we may want to start treating the other teams in a mid major conference like the junior varsity scrubs that couldn't make the team. Might wanna start by not pissing down our leg during the Valley tournament,
