  • Non-conference Statistics

Here are the raw statistics for the non-conference portion of the season.

Here are the same statistics converted to a "per 40 minute" basis, along with the
Net +/- per 40, Prouty and Prouty-Alt (excluding the team win %) and
the percentage of offensive, defensive and total rebounds grabbed that are available to each player

Things that stick out to me.

Cotton has the 2nd most steals on the team, and when you compare steals to minutes played, he is drastically the best cause of turnovers on the team. Cotton is getting a steal every 12.18 minutes. Compared to Kyles who has the most steals on the team, Kyles gets a steal ever 21 minutes.

    DWill with 17 turnovers....

Rags with a 2.22 assists to turnovers.

Orukpe with 10 blocks, and similar to Cotton and Kyles when comparing minutes. If you compare blocks to mins played, and compare Orukpe to Stutz, Orukpe gets a block every 12.5 minutes, and Stutz gets a block every 29.5 minutes.

As suspected, Stutz is a stats stuffer when not saddled with silly fouls.

Unless I'm missing something (very probable), the steals per 40 minutes column can't be right. Cotton would have to be over 3 steals per 40 and not 0.6 and Ragland is certainly doing better than 0.1 per 40.

Yeah, I think that's blocks, and steals is not included. Sorry for that error. EDIT: It has been fixed.

            Conference vs non-conference through Feb 6, 2013

For they the number of players and multiplied by 5 Returning (avg 5) line, I have totaled the values, divided by 5, in order to get a number relating to five guys playing 40 minutes. The graduating four I have left unadjusted. Games through Feb 6,2013. The best values for each statistic are shown.

Shocker All-games comparedtoMVC games from StatSheet.com

It appears that our conference offense is down, but our conference defense is better.

So I guess if we played ourselves it would be a battle of the non-conference offense v. The in-conference defense. Something's gotta give.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.
