  • Games We Can't Afford to Lose

    Southern Illinois
    Bradley
    Drake
    Evansville
    Illinois State
Maybe can split with Missouri State

That's 11 games with a lot of pressure. IMO one loss to any of the above teams is excuse enough to put us on the bubble. Unless Colorado and Tulsa turn it on in conference play. Or a couple of losses to the above teams will be acceptable if we are able to sweep a Creighton or Northern Iowa.

I hate that the margin for error is so slim in our conference.

I disagree to an extent. It depends how we do against Indiana State, UNI and Creighton. For example sweeping UNI allows us a loss to Bradley, possible.

    But why take a chance?

Unfortunately, it may very well happen as it does not take much to have just one or two bad or very cold nights.

If or when we do, we're going to have to just suck it up and cover it by winning a game or two we are projected to lose.

The schedule is pretty decent at avoiding trap games.

@UE and @SIU follow the home game against CU. I think that early in the season, those shouldn't be a problem.

This sequence, from Jan. 15 to Feb. 2 is where a lot of the season rides. Two tough road games, followed by two yawner home games, followed by two mid-range road games could be a tough stretch.

The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

There's always a chance we'll have a bad shooting night, but there shouldn't ever be a chance of having a bad defensive night.

If we play tough defense, we should be in every game, including the bad shooting night games.

I agree. Last season, we knew just one bad loss would knock us out of consideration, and it did. We may have a little more wiggle room this season, we may be able to weather one bad loss but not two for sure.

I have faith that we will continue to be road warriors like we were last season. And hopefully we have learned from our inexcusable home losses that really hurt last season. I truly believe this team can live up the potential given to them at the beginning of the season. You can never be too cautious though...

Missouri State is a trap game for Creighton....they've got to be looking ahead to our game.

Games We Can't Afford to Lose?

The Last One. I like ending the season with a W. Maybe in a four letter tourney this time?

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

After tonights blowout loss to Ohio at home, I think we should add UNI to the list. But I do think we have a little more wiggle room this year. So one or maybe even 2 more losses and we still probably make it.

IMO, We must at least split with Creighton and Indiana State. And then maybe 2 more losses (as long as one of them isn't SIU our UE). Any more than that and our chances with the committee get real iffy.

Of Course our wiggle room gets bigger if teams like UNLV and Temple go on to have really great seasons.

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:

I think the shockers should just be able to sweap the valley season and tournament. But hey wishful thinking never hurt right?
