  • Radio Reception Inside CKA

Bought a radio so I could (hopefully) hear Mike Kennedy call the game inside CKA. No such luck. Anyone had any success with this, and if so, what kind and where did you get it. Wamt something small that I can use an ear piece with. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you have a smart phone, such as a Iphone, Blackberry or Droid, you should be able to download an app that will let you get AM stations. If not, you can always access shockerradio.com from your phone's internet browser. Just listen over the internet with headphones plugged in your phone. That way you're not carrying around a radio, and don't have to worry about reception since it goes over your phone's internet.

But I do know people must get reception in there, because I've seen people with radios in there for years. Unless they did something recently to effect the reception inside.

Just trying to find an alternative to your problem.

If you go the smartphone route (and I understand you may not have a smartphone), KNSS actually includes a link to the TuneIn app on their webpage and from what I've seen it seems to work.

TuneIn app works great however there is usually a several second delay from live action.

Walmart has a Sony Walkman Radio that works really well inside CKA (http://www.walmart.com/ip/Sony-Walkm...F-M37W/8586372). It is fairly small and has a unobstrusive belt clip on the back too (Product Dimensions: 2.5 x 1.3 x 3.4 inches ; 4.8 ounces).

On at least one game, I've noticed a delay of more than a minute on the TuneIn app. Still works great, just not something I would consider an option in the arena.

I generally use my smartphone - but only for the pregame, halftime and post game walk to car. Though this got disrupted at IBA (who would of thought they would scrimp on technology).

I also do have the Sony radio and with all the different radio works best for reception (I use it mainly for baseball). Kennedy used to broadcast with a low amplitude fm repeater that would allow you to get good signals if u say down low. But not sure if he does that now.

There was a question on this during one of the pregames....He said their FM transmitter was broke and they would look into trying to fix it or replace it.

Thanks guys. I do not have an iphone (nor do I want one as I'm old and all I want a phone for is -- a phone). I will check out the Walkman. Thanks again.

If I recall correctly. It was bought by some parents of baseball players so they could listen to Kennedy when on the road.

Since I've had my fill of reading the fan's perspective (breakdown, analysis and blame) of yesterday's game I thought I would give a big THANK YOU to SoulStar and 19Shocker76 for the Walkman radio they recommended. I bought said radio and the reception was great and I could get the entire broadcast. If I can't figure out what's happening on the floor (what the foul was called for or why the refs are reviewing the tape), I can now count on Kennedy to give me the scoop. Thanks again for everyone's suggestions and comments. I am now a happy fan (except for the outcome of yesterday's game).
