Frankly I could not agree more. But let's face it, if KU ever came into Koch for a meaningless non-conference game, the atmosphere would be A LOT more tense, than for say, Utah State.. The tension in Koch is something that is possibly unmatched in any other college basketball arena. For some reason I cannot see the entire crowd sitting down the entire game, except for the student section while KU is in the building. I noticed this for the LSU game a few years ago too. It was different than most games, the entire crowd stood the whole game and was very rowdy. And that just happened to be my first ever shocker game that I attended. The difference in the tension in the crowd compared from say, the Bradley game baffled me so much, I had to research what the hell was going on, why was the entire crowd standing the entire game? Come to find out that LSU was sort of a nemesis in the 80's, not just in basketball, baseball as well. That alone apparently meant a lot to the WSU crowd that night... I don't think they would stand the entire game for KSU, for some reason I just don't. I think the hatred toward KSU is kind of like the Tulsa's.. It's just kind of there.

If you want to be a fan of a program that is always in the tourney, always in the ESPN highlights and always the talk of the town, follow Kentucky. Well said. When one of us pulls the "little brother" card, we only legitimize those who call us that. The sooner we stop acting like little brother, the sooner we'll stop being labled that.

Do we really control our own destiny every year? The disparity inherent in scheduling when all the "bigger" programs won't go on the road and play teams like ours? Does the success of KU or KSU getting in the field rest on how the lower programs schedule ooc games? Some amount of our resume to play in the post season is incumbent on how other MVC teams schedule and it's effect on SOS or RPI. I think some hatred of these other programs is really frustration in the system and how it rewards the same programs over and over.

                28-2 and a 8-seed. Yea, that's fair.

The hatred for Tulsa was very strong in the 1980s. TU Coach Nolan Richardson quit letting his family go to Tulsa games at WSU because he thought that the crowd got too ugly.

TU-WSU games were VERY VERY INTENSE in those days. Much worse than it would have been for LSU a few years ago.

89, was the same intense hatred exhibited when the Shockers likewise played in Tulsa?

Im not sure that is why the crowd was rowdy that night against lsu. I agree it was rowdy but if i remember right there was a pretty big winter storm that night. The crowd was sparse but everyone that was there wanted to be there. There wasnt anyone worrying about people that werent as in to the game so everyone was as loud and crazy as they wanted to be.

Yes. They played in the downtown convention center back then and the place was packed and they hated our guts. I always felt good when I got back on the road without getting into a fight or having my car windows busted because I was from Kansas.

I remember attending one game down there when we were ranked #2 and Tulsa was #4 and the game was being nationally televised on CBS. Polka Dots filled the air.
