  • Why the NIT should not be a concern.

I see a decent amount of people on here thinking we are NIT bound, and I am here to debunk that.

Here is how WSU's resume stands right now.

    Q1 2-4 - Q2 6-3 - Q3 4-0 - Q4 8-0, NET 43, KenPom 41, SOR 38

Here is a look at a two probable NIT teams resumes.

    Q1 2-7 - Q2 4-4 - Q3 6-1 - Q4 3-1, NET 40, KenPom 46, SOR 73
    Q1 2-6 - Q2 2-4 - Q3 10-0 - Q4 3-0, NET 45, KenPom 47, SOR 61

Who would the committee take out of these three? I would hope the 1st one.

All WSU has to do from here on is avoid the bad loss. So winning at home against Temple and Tulsa and maybe the 1st conference tourney opponent.

Lol, I have long since stopped relying on “hope” with regards to the committee.

At this point, I would agree with you. WSU would as of today be an NCAA team. But today is not selection Sunday and with 3-top 100 teams (and nearly top 100) left they have tough road ahead with no certainty of winning these games.

On the CBS basketball podcast they talked about the American. Their opinion was that AAC would only get 3 bids. Houston and then it would be between WSU, Memphis and Cincy for the remaining 2.

Nothing like controlling your own destiny.

23 wins is probably the amount that locks us in, that allows 2 losses @ SMU and @ Memphis, along with a 2nd round loss neutral against 4 seed SMU.

I have heard CBS (Parrish/Norlander) and other prognosticators say that for WSU to feel secure they had to go 3-1 and win one in the tournament. If they do that they are secure. Anything else could make a sporty selection sunday.

The way I keep looking at it, is that if we win all our games, we are a lock for sure. We dont need help, ie other bubble teams to lose.

Lose 1, we may still get in with no help. If we get help, we're probably in.

Lose 2.... gonna need help, but still might be ok depending on how far we get in thd AAC tourney.

                    Lose 3.... toast.

                        Some encouraging read:
