You seem to be describing Starman with Jeff Bridges (but I don't have any clue if he was married to Meg Ryan).

BTW -- That movie was awesome .. "What means kidnapp-ed?"

A post on this message board (very bottom) indeed claims that Wu was set to be in Starman before having the scene cut.
