FWIW, I don't see why every game in any kind of shoot out needs to be televised for the event to happen. Maybe just get TV to commit to airing the big match-ups? If we are expecting every game to be aired on TV , I don't think that we'll ever see a shootout of any kind as a TV audience is not exactly going to be impressed with an Evansville-St. Bonaventure type of game.
I know in the past, an MVC-CAA shoot out was discussed among conference commissioners. Bruiser Flint of Drexel talked about it in a radio interview before this year's game against Creighton. He said that such a shootout could really hurt the NCAA tourney chances of the losing league, or even both leagues if there was an even split. His argument kind of sounds like the one used against the bracketbuster by MVC coaches: there is nothing to gain and everything to lose.
Conference USA and the MWC seem to escape from mid-major classification. As a result, I'd rather see a shoot-out type series with one of them, especially since we'd certainly kick their tails.
