    Summary:
Head Coach Joe Dooley and his staff revamped the roster, after last year's campaign, by adding 11 new players, including seven transfers and four freshmen. The Hoop Scoop ranked ECU's incoming class as the 10th best in the nation this last summer. Jayden Gardner and Seth LeDay are the only returnees from last season. Gardner, a 6'7 forward from Heritage High School in Wake Forest, led the Pirates in scoring (16.3 ppg) and finished second in The American with 8.5 rebounds per game. He led all Division I freshmen with 171 made free throws and was seventh in scoring and rebounding among first-year players. Gardner was named to the Preseason American Athletic Conference second-team. ECU was picked 11th in the AAC, ahead of 12th place Tulane. ECU on the season is 6 wins and 7 losses.

Would be a nice one to have dex back for defense on Gardner

Pretty sure LeDay is no longer a member of the team.

        Correct.

KenPom rates ECU as 4 spots better than Abilene Christian. (258 vs 262)

Just a suggestion here - can we start having more realistic options for the poll? We are favored by about 20, and have a 97% chance of winning per KenPom, so it might be better to have more realistic options (four that say Shocks win, one that says we get upset). Just a thought.

I dunno, the options seem pretty reasonable to me. 20 point margin is included in the 10+ category. It’s already enough work to put out a poll for every game.

My thought is that it's basically a given that we will win by 10+ in this game and a bunch of non-conference tune up games. Just makes it more interesting when the options are much more reflective of potential outcomes.

Not trolling at all. Just had a suggestion to make these polls (in games where we are the overwhelming favorite) a little less one-sided. There's no chance that any one of us actually think that ECU will win by 10 or more (or even 5+ for that matter).

But a lot of us are aware of Kentucky/E'ville, and Duke/SFA...

Yes and while we’re at it, what state is East Carolina in? Should have been listed.

I was wondering about that one. It not North Carolina, and its not South Carolina. It's related to Sweet Caroline, but only by marriage Then I found it, Its to the right of West Carolina.

And yet, those are still the exception, not the rule. They happened, but the probability is so minute compared to the probability of top ten KenPom teams losing to sub-150 KenPom teams.

I’m just saying that the risk of losing to ECU is probably worth a mention, but it’s not a matter of a margin of victory. It’s worth being one out of five or six options.
