  • Wiseman transferring

To sign with an agent - not another college. He's left Memphis, Edit: which I now find was already being discussed.

This must be important since this is the 3rd thread that has covered this. Anyone else think he may have not been academically eligible to play in the 2nd semester.

Definitely a possibility, I really think that he, or his inner circle, started to question playing 6-8 weeks and risking injuring himself and jeopardizing his NBA stock; especially after Anthony's injury.

I'm sure Penny will say he's fine with it since he didn't ever recruit Wiseman to begin with and didn't really know he was on his team

Not surprised with this if true. That is way too much MONEY to be gambling with if he gets hurt. Take the money. You can always go to school.

I could be wrong but I don’t think you can be ruled academically ineligible at semester anymore. It seems like I heard Mike Kennedy mention that quasi-recent (last decade) change. Once you are academically eligible in August, that is in place for the school year.

That can't be true can it? So a freshman is cleared to play in August...would never have to attend one class if that were true.

But they wouldn't need to attend class the first semester either if this is true. Wouldn't surprise me though knowing the NCAA.

I don't think that is limited to Kentucky. I also suspect more than a few players skip courses the 2nd semester of their final year of eligibility. The latter probably more prevalent than the former.

From everything I've seen/read, he's a smart kid ... More likely he saw Cole Anthony go down and realized he should focus on his upcoming 8 figure payday

I am guessing there are rumblings of more issues with Memphis and that, coupled with potential to be injured, has helped him make this decision.

                              That's what I would do.
