Did DK even arrive to the arena?!? That was disappointing to see his lack of effort/intensity. I saw Marshall give some pretty telling body language towards Kyles. On the flipside I was glad to see Marshall yank Kyles and insert Cotton. Cotton def looks like he can hang with D-1 speed and talent.Up your nose with a rubber hose - Barbarino

I have received reports that the chanting came from more senior members of our fans. I can't beleive that a fifty year old would chant like an eight year old. By the way it got worse, they moved on to a chant of "LSU." I hope these guys realize that we will never be respected until we can win and lose with class. If you know who these people are and do not put them in their place you are failing WSU.
Reminds me of the end of the UNI game years ago where we failed to just let Ben's dad look like a dumb ass.

The school without football chanting LSU? Seriously?

This was a big missed opportunity (much like UCONN and SDSU were last year).
Tomorrow's game now becomes more important. A loss tomorrow and we are in worse shape than last year at this point.
The good news is we still have some pretty decent non-con opponents left to make up some ground. With games against UNLV, Utah St, UAB and Tulsa, added to our win against Colorado (still a BCS win) we can still build a decent non-con resume even with the Alabama loss. And hopefully the Valley will continue to play well in non-con games so that we end up as a 2 or 3 bid conference. (I also wouldn't mind seeing Alabama win the SEC and finish as a top 10 team in the country).
I think CU and MSU have the potential to be top 50 rpi teams. If that happens, that gives us 4 more games against top 50 rpi opponents. It would also help if a few more Valley teams would end up in the top 100 in rpi, increasing our games against top 100 competition.
I was extremely disappointed that we didn't at least make this a nail bitter down the stretch tonight. But I don't think we played that badly. In fact, if Stutz hadn't been in foul trouble this would have been a very interesting game. I swear the refs call him for fouls that everyone else gets away with.
But now onto the next game.Last edited by shox1989; November 19, 2011, 06:05 AM.

DK and Dwill both were MIA. Tekele may be an alternative worth playing in games like this as he gets more experience and/or if DK and DWill both continue to not play well. I think that after viewing film, GM will not be happy with them. Fouls can't not always be controlled, but hopefully our guard play improves.

It's true. I didn't hear it when I watched it live, but I just watched a replay of the game on espn3 and you can definitely hear the NIT, NIT chant with :37.1 seconds left in the game.
It is embarrassing. I hope most people didn't hear it when they watched the game.

Not a great team showing. Murry played his arse off! Stutz got 9 boards in 17 minutes. EO does what he needs to do. Smith is good, but he seemed gassed in the last 10 minutes. Kyles and Williams were awful offensively. Cotton looked good. I'm guessing he still doesn't quite understand the offense. Hall is fun to watch! What a great 30 second possession in the second half where he ended up on the floor twice! He just needs to make those bunnies and freebies.
Bama played a very physical game and good D. Some things didn't go well for the Shox and the 3s weren't falling in the second half. Need to pound it inside to Hall and Stutz. Still a chance to have a very good year, but we weren't ready to beat such an athletic SEC team just yet.Livin the dream

Just got off work, lemme tell ya, workin third shift sucks. Here's my comments about the game.
1. Alabama is darn good. If they aren't playing well into March, I'll be shocked. Not saying they are as good as Kentucky, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them in the SEC Championship Game.
2. We suck against pressure defense. I don't know how many times tonight we dribbled right into a trap and turned the ball over, or just barely got it across half court before a 10 second call.
3. This Shocker team has no offense. We live by the three, die by the three, and that is going to hurt us.
4. Back to Alabama, almost all of those blocks, if not all of those blocks were clean. Alabama is athletic as all heck.
5. This Shocker team is nowhere close to as good as last years team. If they don't figure out what the word offense means, it could be a long season.
6. The officiating tonight absolutely blew! Blocks being called charges, charges being called blocks. And for everybody complaining that we got shafted on the whistles, I saw just as many calls going in our favor that should have went against us. It was just bad all the way around.
7. Put this one behind, and let's beat Temple on Sunday to salvage this tournament. I still think this is a postseason team, but they'll have to do a lot better to be an NCAA Tournament team.
