    • Garrett started out very poorly but ended playing very well and played 30 minutes. EO did a nice job spelling Garrett. Did not hurt us at all.

EO is going to play a very important role and be a big contributor, whether the box score shows it or not...

        Ditto that

That was South Padre in 2005-06.

          • They looked like a team playing in their first competitive game. A bit tight, but the athleticism is definitely there.

I did note our usual esteemed 'net officials' were in mid-season form tonight. Some of your comments actually generated quite a few chuckles from 600 miles away.

Just for S & G, that was not a back court violation, due to not controlling the ball. Unless control is confirmed, front court position is not established. Without front court position, a back court violation can not occur.

But, you guys did entertain Yours Truly for 1.5 pages.
Above all, make the right call.

            • I i know is that "The Beast" finally made it clear if they werent going to call fouls, he would commit one. Hard. In the lane. From that point on it seemed the whistles balanced out. We have needed one of those for a while. Best part was it was almost clean.

That's sort of how Carl Hall played tonight. Nothing impressive in the box score, but he played a vital role as enforcer in the lanes. When he took out that Colorado guy, I thought to myself "I can get used to that."

If that was the case then woudn't the ref just stand there and watch instead of making the deflection signal?

That's what I was thinking. Apparently, the announcers aren't clued in on the actual "rules" either because they thought for sure it was a violation. Wish I was listening to MK to see what he thought...

                    • For anyone who wanted to trash TM, we were right behind the bench and we saw how much pain he was in after crashing while hustling. He was hurting bad, but played his heart out and at times carried the team.

I for one was proud of these guys tonight. No, they weren't the best they've ever been, but they fought hard and won the game. They did not choke when things weren't going their way. They did not let anything get to them.

I'm happy to have this group and excited about the rest of the year.

My friends and I were watching the game and we joked that Carl's foul honestly was clean, and that he had only touched the ball. He just had so much power behind the block that he slammed the ball back in to the guy's hand and the Colorado guy fell down.

I know that wasn't the case, but honestly, The Beast lives up to his name so hard that its halfway believable.
