Yes, really, all caps. You obviously have no ounce of common sense at all so I figured that would maybe get your attention. Looks like it worked.

And Fever, pin said a long time ago he was out of town for Thanksgiving and wouldn't be able to go. I believe he also said he was considering going if he could find seats/prices that he felt would give him the ability to go and enjoy the game until he found out he was leaving town.

Both of you are acting quite childish though.

Not too break up the cat fight we have going on, but back to the topic at hand. Going back to the band for a minute, it has been a mess this year. There was one point in the 2nd half of the game on Friday night that the Shox went on a nice little run and took a good double digit lead. Mike Davis called timeout and the crowd was on it's feet for the Shox as we went to timeout. I was expecting the band to play "We're Gonna Beat the Hell out of You..." However, unfortunately, I was way wrong. They played some song I don't even know what it is. The crowd couldn't get into it. So about 10 seconds after the timeout was called, the energy was out of the building and everyone was sitting down again. THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING!!!!!! Also, it seemed like last year towards the end of the year and during the NIT run, that the band would play "We're Not Gonna Take It," and it sorta became a theme song. The crowd got into it, the student section would sing along, and it was great. However, I have yet to hear that one time this year.

I truly don't understand. Is there anyone in charge in the athletic department that cares about the atmosphere at these games?? We are going to have a top 20 team at Koch on Sunday and the energy will be electric. However, NONE of this will be because of what the athletic department is doing for the fans...

I've said it several times... flood the athletic department with calls, emails, letters, etc. I've defended the athletic department in the past, however not on this issue. We deserve better and it should begin Thursday evening.

Just a few thoughts to weigh in on this topic ...

The modified BatWu video is far, far better than the original. They shortened it and now can actually be followed. I guess it's OK for what it is, but the jet fighters and IronWu were much better. The timing just needs to get worked out so it doesn't hold things up. Next year they should have the combine from the movie "Cars" run down a car with the opponent's logo. ;)

There was an issue with the sound on videos Friday night. They had it up so loud to make it audible they were getting buzz and even an instance of feedback on the speakers. Can't blame that on WSU.

The band issues are frustrating. I would think there would be some training for the new directors so they aren't totally unprepared to manage in-game song decisions.

Just a couple of issues regarding the band-

1.) The band this year is led by two GAs. The one leading the band at men's games has only been at WSU for one year, and only played sporadically throughout the season last year. He doesn't quite have a grip on how things are supposed to be run. He chooses strange songs to play ("We're Gonna Beat the Hell Out of You" was played before the CSU game when there was NOBODY on the floor) and doesn't know when to start them off or when to stop them. It's a very tense situation for some members I've talked to, and people aren't happy with how things are going.

2.) In regards to "We're Not Gonna Take It", we had special permission to use that arrangement last year. This year it was no longer in the music books, which is why it hasn't been played. I can tell you that I did listen to a new arrangement of the song yesterday that sounds very close to the same and I have a feeling that you'll be hearing it return very soon. I'll be contacting some members of the band and have them push to have it ready to go by at least UNLV. We need that crowd to be electric there.

Just as a side note- what was the overall take on the band last year and this year compared to years before? I've heard from a few people that last year's band was really good, but those were biased individuals. Wanted to bring the question to you guys, the fans.

The band, like the Shox, seem to need a few games to get into the groove. There is bitching about them at the beginning of each year but generally some props and kudos as the season bores on. I remember a lot of griping about production last year and a few grumblings about the band -- but then after a few games the band got their act together nicely and had a strong "rest of the season".

I suspect if the GAs are willing to listen and make adjustments we will have the same result this year.

BTW -- Still waiting for an all-out drum solo assault by the drummer at half time.

Thanks for the insight on the band. I do remember when the band played "We're Gonna Beat the hell out of you" before the CSU game. Seemed very very odd to me. And then, during moments of the game when they should play it, they don't. That is great to hear about "We're Not Gonna Take It" possibly coming back.

I do agree that it seems it takes the band a few games to get into a routine. Hopefully that will happen soon. All in all, the band does a great job.

My grandchildren loved BatWU on Friday night and asked if we would take them to the next game to see it again. We loved the Coach Marshall/NIT video. The Athletic Dept. is right on target with this one. "Little-Shockers" grow up to be "Big-Shockers." Some of the people on this forum must not understand sports marketing very well.

As Royal noted, the Batwu intro used for the UAB game was an updated version from the original that was shorter and had a more visually cohesive ending. It was quite a bit better than the original, but the original will sour people's view of even the edited version because if was way too long and a visual mess.

Sorry I have been to both games but didn't know there were 2 versions, thank you for letting me know. Does anyone know how I can see the 2 videos to compare them?

As was mentioned above, this video is great for the kids in attendance. Go ahead and play it after the alma mater at the 10 minute mark or something. However, this is the video that you play to get the fans fired up as the team is getting ready to take the floor. You aren't doing this for the kids, you are doing it for the 10,500 in attendance (which is 99% adults). Keep playing the video, that's fine. Just don't do it at this moment.
